  1. 1. Studies on DNA adducts and carcinogenesis with 2-nitrofluorene as a model substance

    Författare :Xian-Shu Cui; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :2-nitrofluorene; carcinogens; DNA adducts; preneoplastic lesion; tumor;

    Sammanfattning : A number of carcinogens or their electrophilic intermediates are able to bind covalently to DNA, forming DNA adducts. DNA adducts may cause gene mutations if they are misrepaired or remain unrepaired before DNA replication occurs. DNA adduct formation is believed to be the initial step of chemical carcinogenesis. 2. 2. P-type ATPases studied by electron microscopy and two-dimensional crystallization

    Författare :Kenneth Yijing Xian; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :electron microscopy; ion transport; membrane protein; P-type ATPase; two-dimensional crystallization;

    Sammanfattning : Electron microscopy and two-dimensional crystallography have been used to study the molecular structures of the porcine renal Na+,K+-ATPase and the porcine gastric H+,K+-ATPase. In addition, morphological changes have been observed with electron cryomicroscopy from tubulovesicles in porcine gastric mucosae. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Functional role of neural cell adhesion molecule in tumorigenesis and beta-cell function

    Författare :Xiaojie Xian; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :N-CAM; pericytes; endothelial; tumor; PDGF-B; RipTag; ECM; exocytosis;

    Sammanfattning : Cancer metastasis is the main lethal cause for cancer patients today. It has been demonstrated that angiogenesis is crucial for growth of both primary tumors and metastasis. LÄS MER

  4. 4. T lymphocytes and cytokines in the pathogenesis of experimental autoimmune myasthenia gravis

    Författare :Guang-Xian Zhang; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Experimental autoimmune myasthenia gravis (EAMG), induced in different animal species and strains by immunization with nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (AChR) and complete Freund's adjuvant (CFA), represents an experimental model of myasthenia gravis (MG) in humans. Both MG and EAMG are autoimmune diseases mediated by antibodies against AChR of neuromuscular junctions. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Atmospheric corrosion of zinc-aluminum and copper-based alloys in chloride-rich environments : Microstructure, corrosion initiation, patina evolution and metal release

    Författare :Xian Zhang; Inger Odnevall Wallinder; Christofer Leygraf; Manuel Morcillo; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :atmospheric corrosion; chloride deposition; Zn-Al alloy coatings on steel microstructure; Cu sheet and Cu alloys; microstructure; corrosion initiation; corrosion product evolution; metal release; SEM; IRAS; CRM.; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Fundamental understanding of atmospheric corrosion mechanisms requires an in-depth understanding on the dynamic interaction between corrosive constituents and metal/alloy surfaces. This doctoral study comprises field and laboratory investigations that assess atmospheric corrosion and metal release processes for two different groups of alloys exposed in chloride-rich environments.
