21. Bone and Cartilage Regeneration: Wnt Signaling Pathway in Healing
Sammanfattning : The Wnt signaling pathway plays a central role in bone and cartilage embryonic development, processes that are recapitulated during regeneration. Imbalance in such well conserved and complex system often contributes to numerous diseases, whereas controlled modulation of the Wnt signaling activity is an attractive target e.g. LÄS MER
22. Forkhead Genes in Mammalian Development
Sammanfattning : This thesis concerns aspects of Forkhead gene biology and it’s relation to mammalian development. Genes from three subclasses are discussed, Foxj3, Foxf1 and f2, and Foxe3. LÄS MER
23. Transcriptional regulation of ribosomal RNA gene : actin, myosin and beyond
Sammanfattning : In the eukaryotic cell nucleus, actin and nuclear myosin 1c (NM1) are key regulators of RNA polymerase I (Pol I) transcription and function across the entire ribosomal RNA biogenesis pathway. At the gene level, actin interacts with Pol I and together with NM1 they have been suggested to facilitate assembly of Pol I at the gene promoter. LÄS MER
24. The Wnt pathway in ventral midbrain dopaminergic differentiation
Sammanfattning : Parkinson’s disease (PD) is a debilitating neurodegenerative disease in which dopaminergic (DA) neurons in the substantia nigra are lost. Current treatments such as administration of levodopa (L-DOPA) are initially effective but the disease eventually progresses, highlighting the need for a treatment that restores and maintains the otherwise lost functions. 25. ROR1 : a novel receptor tyrosine kinase with unique therapeutic potentials in chronic lymphocytic leukemia
Sammanfattning : Chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) is characterized by the accumulation of small B lymphocytes in blood, bone marrow, lymph nodes and other lymphoid tissues. CLL is the most common leukemia in the Western world. Despite significant advances in understanding the pathogenesis, CLL is still a disease with no available cure. LÄS MER
