  1. 6. Numerical modeling of coupled thermo-hydro-mechanical processes in geological porous media

    Författare :Fuguo Tong; Lanru Jing; Chin-Fu Tsang; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Thermo-hydro-mechanical processes; Porous geologicalmedia; Numerical modeling; FEM; Multiphase flow; Effective thermal conductivity; Water retention curve; Radioactive waste repositories; Bentonite; ; Geoengineering; Geoteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Coupled Thermo-Hydro-Mechanical (THM) behavior in geological porous media has been a subject of great interest in many geoengineering disciplines. Many attempts have been made to develop numerical prediction capabilities associated with topics such as the movement of pollutant plumes, gas injection, energy storage, geothermal energy extraction, and safety assessment of repositories for radioactive waste and spent nuclear fuel. 2. 7. The hippocampal opioid system : role in spatial learning

    Författare :Johan Sandin; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :opioid; dynorphin; nociceptin; hippocampus; learning; memory; acetylcholine; HPLC; microinjections;

    Sammanfattning : The main aim of the present thesis was to study the role of the endogenous hippocampal opioid system, and in particular, the role of dynorphin B and nociceptin, in spatial learning. The effects of bilateral infusion (using chronic cannulae) of dynorphin B into the dorsal hippocampus (CA3-region), an area containing a high number of dynorphin-containing neurons, were examined in the Morris swim-maze, a spatial task dependent on hippocampal functioning. 3. 8. The effect of anaesthesia and adrenergic therapy on the distribution and elimination of a crystalloid solution studied by volume kinetic analysis

    Författare :Carl-Arne Ewaldsson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Intravenous fluid therapy is a mandatory treasure during anaesthesia and surgery. It is sometimes combined with adrenergic therapy to maintain haemodynamic stability. It is of great importance to know how the body handles the distribution of fluid in these circumstances in order to minimize the risk of fluid overload. LÄS MER
