  1. 16. Sputtering and Characterization of Complex Multi-element Coatings

    Författare :Erik Särhammar; Tomas Nyberg; Ulf Jansson; Urban Wiklund; Gustaf Sjöblom; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; thin film; coating; magnetron sputtering; modelling; tribofilm; tungsten disulphide;

    Sammanfattning : The thin film technology is of great importance in modern society and is a key technology in wide spread applications from electronics and solar cells to hard protective coatings on cutting tools and diffusion barriers in food packaging. This thesis deals with various aspects of thin film processing and the aim of the work is twofold; firstly, to obtain a fundamental understanding of the sputter deposition and the reactive sputter deposition processes, and secondly, to evaluate sputter deposition of specific material systems with low friction properties and to improve their performance. 2. 17. Textured insert for improved heat extraction in combination with high-pressure cooling in turning of superalloys

    Författare :Nageswaran Tamil Alagan; Tomas Beno; Uta Klement; Anders Wretland; Högskolan Väst; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Alloy 718; High-pressure coolant; Heat dissipation; Textured insert; Tungsten carbide; Tool life; Tool wear; Production Technology; Produktionsteknik; Manufacturing and materials engineering; Produktions- och materialteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Heat generated in a machining process is a common and critical obstacle faced in today's machining industries. The heat generated in the cutting zone has a direct negative influence on the tool life which, in turn contributes to increase the manufacturing costs. LÄS MER

  4. 19. On failure modelling in finite element analysis : material imperfections and element erosion

    Författare :Mattias Unosson; Larsgunnar Nilsson; Kjell Simonsson; Lars Olovsson; Anders Eriksson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; finite element method; element erosion; material failure; material imperfections; crack-tip; Solid mechanics; Fastkroppsmekanik;

    Sammanfattning : This dissertation concerns failure modelling with material imperfections and element erosion in finite element analyses. The aim has been to improve the element erosion technique, which is simple to use and implement and also computationally inexpensive. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Erosion - Corrosion Resistance and Adhesion of Laser and Thermally Deposited Coatings in Fluidised Beds

    Författare :Anders Hjörnhede; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; coating; fluidised bed; HVOF; laser cladding; CFB; FBC; adhesion testing; PFBC; thermal spraying; arc spray; erosion - corrosion; acoustic emission;

    Sammanfattning : High temperature erosion - corrosion is the major source for degradation of components such as heat exchangers, tubes, cyclones and water walls used in Fluidised Bed Combustion (FBC) plants. By coating the exposed components with a protective material, the degradation rate can be decreased. LÄS MER
