21. The impact of Wnt5a signaling and tumor associated macrophages in breast cancer
Sammanfattning : Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women worldwide with approximately 1.150.000 new cases each year and accounting for over 400.000 deaths per year. LÄS MER
22. War and peace in the tumor microenvironment : tumor-associated cells as facilitators or adversaries during tumor development
Sammanfattning : The tumor microenvironment, including immune cells, fibroblasts and vasculature, profoundly affects tumor development by initially opposing, but eventually facilitating tumor growth, vascularization and spread. Though corrupted by the growing tumor, such cells remain non-transformed and thus, with proper cues, are possible to direct toward their physiological anti-tumor function. LÄS MER
23. Stromal and tumor cell responses to hypoxia and treatment within the glioma microenvironment
Sammanfattning : Glioblastoma is the most aggressive primary brain tumor in adults. Despite treatment, tumors invariably recur, and the recurring tumor is resistant to therapies. New approaches are needed for the successful treatment of glioblastoma patients.Tumors are not simply a compilation of molecularly and phenotypically identical neoplastic cells. LÄS MER
24. Exploring novel roles of tumor pericytes
Sammanfattning : Tumor biology has been extensively studied over the last few decades, with a principal focus on how neoplastic cells obtain cellular immortality. A number of oncogenes and tumor suppressor genes have been uncovered that regulate cancerous transformation. LÄS MER
25. Molecular and Biological Characteristics of Stroma and Tumor Cells in Colorectal Cancer
Sammanfattning : Carcinogenesis is a progressive process involving multiple genetic alterations in tumor cells and complex interactions in the tumor-host microenvironment. To better understand the contribution of molecular alterations in tumor cells and stromal variables to the development of colorectal cancer (CRC) and identify prognostic factors, in this study we examined the clinicopathological and biological significance of stromal variables, including particularly interesting new cysteine-histidine rich protein (PINCH), inflammatory infiltration, angiogenesis and lymphangiogenesis, as well as hRAD50/hMRE11/hNBS1 proteins and hRAD50 mutation in tumor cell in CRC.
