26. Trophic interactions in the tundra: Impacts of large mammal herbivory on carbon processes and fungal communities
Sammanfattning : Plant productivity is generally increasing in the Arctic as a consequence of accelerated climate change. The change in plant communities may coincide with a loss of carbon from Arctic soils due to increased decomposition and respiration. LÄS MER
27. Interactions between neural retina, retinal epithelium and choroid
Sammanfattning : The retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) is a non-replicating monolayer that plays a key role nursing the photoreceptors of the neural retina, regulating fluid movement within the subretinal space, maintaining a basal laminar layer of Bruch s membrane, and influencing the choriocapillaris. This project investigates how surgical manipulation of the retinal epithelial layer influences the neural retina, the choroid and the epithelial layer itself. LÄS MER
28. Species interactions and energy transfer in aquatic food webs
Sammanfattning : Food webs are structured by intricate nodes of species interactions which govern the flow of organic matter in natural systems. Despite being long recognized as a key component in ecology, estimation of food web functioning is still challenging due to the difficulty in accurately measuring species interactions within a food web. 29. Benthic invertebrate food webs in the Baltic Sea : Anthropogenic pressure effects and methodological advancements
Sammanfattning : Trophic interactions are ecologically important, as they structure communities, and globally important for the ecosystem functions that they facilitate. Anthropogenic pressures are altering the structure of food webs, their stability, and resilience to change. LÄS MER
30. Effects of warming on the ecology of algal-dominated phytobenthic communities in the Baltic Sea
Sammanfattning : Through climate change, the global average air and surface water temperature has risen 0.85°C during the last 100 years. The Baltic Sea experienced one of the most rapid increase in temperature recorded of marine ecosystems. LÄS MER
