  1. 11. Does cancer originate in utero?

    Författare :Magnus Kaijser; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Epidemiology; prenatal exposure delayed effects; breast neoplasms; testicular neoplasms; lung neoplasms; pregnancy; estrogens; estriol; low birth weight body weight; height; twins; matemal exposure; smoking; infant premature; small for gestational age.;

    Sammanfattning : The purpose of the present thesis was to evaluate Trichopoulos' hypothesis that breast cancer can originate in utero, and to examine the role of antenatal estrogen exposure in the etiology of testicular cancer. First, we used data from a Swedish-Norwegian cohort study on risk factors for small-for-gestational-age births to identify markers for antenatal estrogen exposure. LÄS MER

  2. 12. The impact of genetic, environmental and life-style factors on male reproductive function

    Författare :Jonas Richthoff; Malmö Reproduktionsmedicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; male reproductive function; testicular cancer; smoking; Medicin människa och djur ; Medicine human and vertebrates ; cryptorchidism; sperm concentration;

    Sammanfattning : Recent studies have indicated a decline in sperm number in the western world during the past 50 years, sperm concentration changing from 113 to 66 millions per mL. Furthermore, significant geographical differences in male reproductive function have been observed. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Reproductive function in male childhood cancer survivors

    Författare :Patrik Romerius; Malmö Reproduktionsmedicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Childhood Cancer SurvivorsFertilityHypogonadismSperm DNA IntegrityAzoospermiaEstrogen Receptor alpha polymorphism;

    Sammanfattning : Childhood cancer (CC) survival rate has increased over the last couple of decades, today approaching 80%. Therefore more attention has been paid to late effects. One important issue for CC survivors (CCS) is impaired reproductive function. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Transcriptomic and Proteomic Analysis of Tumor Markers in Tissue and Blood from Patients with Lung Cancer

    Författare :Dijana Djureinovic; Patrick Micke; Keith Kerr; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :non-small cell lung cancer; prognostic biomarkers; cancer-testis antigens; prediction model; tumor markers; autoantibodies; testis; screening; Patologi; Pathology;

    Sammanfattning : Despite recent treatment advancements, the survival outcome remains poor for the majority of patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). The aim of this thesis was to evaluate protein expression to predict prognosis and identify biomarkers that can be used as targets for immunotherapy or for early detection of NSCLC. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Cancer and male reproductive function- the effect on sperm DNA integrity and on birth outcomes in the offspring

    Författare :Olof Ståhl; Malmö Institutionen för kliniska vetenskaper; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; SCSA; birth outcomes; sperm DNA integrity; male cancer; fertility;

    Sammanfattning : Male cancer survivors (MCS) are at risk of suffering from impaired fertility. Male fertility is dependant on sperm DNA quality. The Sperm Chromatin Structure Assay (SCSA) reflects the proportion of sperm with poor DNA, the DNA fragmentation index, DFI. LÄS MER
