1. Numerical Simulations of Flows around Trains and Buses in Cross Winds
Sammanfattning : When cruising in strong winds, ground vehicles can experience strong aerodynamic forces and moments that may increase drag, reduce their stability, generate noise and induce accidents in the case of strong side winds. However, prevention of the unwanted influences of side winds requires that the flow structures around vehicles are fully understood in both the instantaneous and time-averaged flow. LÄS MER
2. Large-Eddy Simulation of the Flow around Simplified High-Speed Trains under Side Wind Conditions , thesis of Lic. of Engng, Division of Fluid Dynamics, Dept. of Applied Mechanics, Chalmers University of Technology, Göteborg, Sweden, 2006
Sammanfattning : The flows around high speed trains, subjected to side winds, are solved using Large Eddy Simulation (LES). Two train models have been used: generic model and more realestic model (the ICE2 train) in the investigations. LÄS MER
3. Air-sea exchange of O2 and CO2 : Processes controlling the transfer efficiency
Sammanfattning : World oceans cover more than 70% of the earth surface and constitutes a major sink of atmospheric CO2. Two of the most important gases in the marine carbon cycling are O2 and CO2 and hence accurate descriptions of the air-sea gas exchange of these gases are crucial. LÄS MER
4. Star clusters as engines of galaxy evolution
Sammanfattning : Stars form and live in hierarchical structures such as star clusters on the smallest scales up to groups of galaxies on the largest scales. The role of young and massive star clusters in the evolution of the host galaxies is one of the most active fields of research in modern astronomy. LÄS MER
5. The Location and Variability of Southern ocean Fronts
Sammanfattning : The location of fronts has a direct influence on both the physical and biological processes in the Southern Ocean. Moreover, the Subtropical Front (STF) is believed play a key role in the global climate system. LÄS MER
