6. On the assessment of right ventricular function using cardiac magnetic resonance imaging and echocardiography
Sammanfattning : Transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) and cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging are two commonly used imaging modalities for evaluating the size and function of the heart. There are advantages and disadvantages associated with both modalities when examining the right ventricle (RV). LÄS MER
7. Arrhythmogenic Right Ventricular Cardiomyopathy : Genetic and Electrocardiographic Aspects on Risk of Ventricular Arrhythmia and Diagnosis
Sammanfattning : Introduction: ARVC (Arrhythmogenic Right Ventricular Cardiomyopathy) is a heritable rare disease of the heart muscle, primarily affecting the right ventricle, that may cause arrhythmias and heart failure.Aim: The overall aim of this thesis was to study various aspects of genetic information and electrocardiography (ECG), for their use in diagnosis and risk evaluation in ARVC. 8. The right ventricle in volume or pressure overload : Insights from novel imaging techniques
Sammanfattning : This study is inspired by the gap in knowledge regarding the timing of cardiac surgery and interventions in adult patients with congenital heart disease. There are many parameters used assessing right ventricular function; however, most of them have pitfalls. LÄS MER
9. Three-dimensional assessment of cardiac function; When right is wrong
Sammanfattning : Assessment of the right side of the heart is important in patients with heart disease; especially in patient with elevated pressure in the lung circulation. Decreased right ventricular function and elevated pressure in the right atrium are of poor prognostic value. LÄS MER
10. Cardiac morphology and dynamics in Swedish elite orienteers : Evaluation of the right and left ventricle by two-dimensional and doppler echocardiography
Sammanfattning : Background. Between 1979 and 1992, 16 (15 males and 1 female) sudden unexpected cardiac deaths(SUCD) were reported in Swedish orienteers. Compared with previous reports in young athletes there was a 10- to 100-fold increase in the sudden death rate in young male elite orienteers during this period. The mean age was 25 years (range 18-32 years). LÄS MER
