  3. 3. Clinical aspects on central venous cannulation

    Författare :Andreas Pikwer; Anestesiologi och intensivvård; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Central venous catheters are mainly being used for reliable infusion of fluids and potentially irritant drugs, for haemodialysis, and for assessment of right atrial or central venous pressure (RAP/CVP). Current guidelines state that central venous catheterization should be followed-up by immediate anterior-posterior chest X-ray to confirm appropriate positioning and to detect iatrogenic pneumothorax. 4. 4. Central venous access devices in patients with haematological malignancies care, complications and home treatment

    Författare :Eva Johansson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Central venous access devices; haematological malignancies; dressing changes; self-administration; ambulatory; stem cell collection;

    Sammanfattning : A well functioning central venous access device (CVAD) that will remain in situ free from complications during the entire treatment period, is highly desirable in the management of patients with aggressive haematological malignancies. Unfortunately, such a goal is not likely to be achieved due to the high rate of CVAD-related complications. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Vascular access in cancer patients – clinical implications

    Författare :Knut Taxbro; Sören Berg; Håkan Hanberger; Fredrik Hammarskjöld; Vineet Chopra; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Central venous catheters (CVC) are vital for patients receiving chemotherapy not compatible with peripheral infusion. Thousands of centrally and peripherally inserted central venous catheters are inserted into patients with cancer each year. All types of intravascular catheters are associated with complications.
