  1. 1. Pharmacodynamic effects of antibiotics : studies on bacterial morphology, initial killing, postantibiotic effect and effecitive regrowth time

    Författare :Håkan Hanberger; Otto Cars; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : Pharmacodynamics of antibiotics deals with time course of drug activity and mechanisms of action of drugs on bacteria. In this thesis pharmacodynamic parameters have been studied after brief exposure of gram-positive bacteria to daptomycin, imipenem or vancomycin and after short exposure of gram-negative bacteria to amikacin, ampicillin, aztreonam, cefepime, cefotaxime, ceftazidime, ceftriaxone, cefuroxime, imipenem, mecillinal,11, or piperacillin. 2. 2. Staphylococci and Enterococci : Studies on activity of antimicrobial agents and detection of genes involved in biofilm formation

    Författare :Carina Claesson; Lennart Nilsson; Anita Hällgren; Hans-Jürg Monstein; Håkan Hanberger; Sollid Ericson Sollid; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : The Gram-positive cocci, Staphylococcus aureus, coagulase negative staphylococci (CoNS), Enterococcus faecalis and Enterococcus faecium, are the bacteria most often isolated from patients with hospital acquired infections. S. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Surveillance of Antibiotic Consumption and Antibiotic Resistance in Swedish Intensive Care Units

    Författare :Marcus Erlandsson; Håkan Hanberger; Nils Smith-Erichsen; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Bacterial Antibiotic resistance; Antibiotic Consumption; ICU; Surveillance programme; Multi drug resistance; Pseudomonas aeruginosa; ICU demography; Infectious diseases; Infektionssjukdomar;

    Sammanfattning : Introduction: Nosocomial infections remain a major cause of mortality and morbidity. The problem is most apparent in intensive care units (ICUs). Most ICU patients are compromised and vulnerable as a result of disease or severe trauma. One in ten people admitted to hospital is given an antibiotic for infection. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Preventing Infections Related to Central Venous and Arterial Catheters

    Författare :Fredrik Hammarskjöld; Bo-Eric Malmvall; Sören Berg; Håkan Hanberger; Bengt Gårdlund; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Central venous catheters (CVCs) are indispensable in modern medical practice. Serious complications associated with CVC use include catheter-related infection (CRI) and catheter related-bloodstream infection (CRBSI) both of which contribute to morbidity, mortality and healthcare costs. 5. 5. Clinical Impact of Bloodstream Infections – Characterization, Risk factors and Outcome

    Författare :Martin Holmbom; Håkan Hanberger; Christian G. Giske; Lennart E Nilsson; Mats Fredrikson; Åse Östholm Balkhed; Ralph Peeker; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Bloodstream infection BSI ; Antimicrobial resistance AMR ; Extended spectrum β-lactamase ESBL ; ESBL-producing Enterobacterales; Multidrug-resistant; Urinary tract infection; Sepsis; Epidemiology; Prehospital delay; Community-acquired BSI; Hospital-acquired BSI; Community-onset BSI;

    Sammanfattning : Bloodstream infection (blood poisoning) and antibiotic resistance are increasing worldwide, and already cause the loss of millions of human lives each year. According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), bloodstream infections (BSIs) represent 20% of global mortality on a par with cardiac infarct, stroke, and major trauma. LÄS MER
