  1. 36. Blood-Brain Barrier Transport of Drugs Across Species with the Emphasis on Health, Disease and Modelling

    Författare :Karin Tunblad; Margareta Hammarlund-Udenaes; Niclas Jonsson; Elizabeth CM de Lange; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmaceutical biosciences; Blood-brain barrier; Disease; Microdialysis; Modelling; Transport; Pharmacokinetics; NONMEM; Farmaceutisk biovetenskap; Biopharmacy; Biofarmaci;

    Sammanfattning : The transport of drugs across the blood-brain barrier (BBB) has been investigated in different species using morphine and morphine-6-glucuronide (M6G) as model compounds. The influence of probenecid on the BBB transport of morphine and M6G was investigated, and the consequences of meningitis and severe brain injury on the concentrations of morphine in the brain were examined. 2. 37. Short-chain retinol dehydrogenases/reductases : Involvement in retinoid metabolism and expression in embryonic and adult mouse

    Författare :Paulina Tuvendal; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmaceutical biosciences; -; Farmaceutisk biovetenskap; Biopharmacy; Biofarmaci; Toxicology; toxikologi;

    Sammanfattning : Retinoids are needed in the embryo to ensure proper development and in the adult forvision, maintenance of epithelia and sperm production. Retinol is oxidised within the cell generating retinal and, irreversibly, retinoic acid. LÄS MER

  3. 38. Posterior capsule opacification : An experimental study in vitro and in vivo

    Författare :Niklas Wallentin; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmaceutical biosciences; Posterior capsule opacification PCO ; after-cataract; lens epithelial cell; proliferation; aqueous humor AqH ; inflammation; growth factors; basic fibroblast growth factor bFGF ; transforming growth factor-β TGF-β ; extracapsular cataract extraction; corneal incision; rabbit; Farmaceutisk biovetenskap; Biopharmacy; Biofarmaci; galenisk farmaci; Pharmaceutics;

    Sammanfattning : The clinical and economic significance of posterior capsule opacification (PCO) makes it an important public health problem. A better understanding of the pathogenesis in order to reduce/prevent PCO is needed. For this purpose an experimental model in the rabbit was used and further developed in thisthesis. LÄS MER

  4. 39. Methodological Studies on Covariate Model Building in Population Pharmacokinetic-Pharmacodynamic Analysis

    Författare :Ulrika Wählby; Thomas Ludden; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmaceutical biosciences; Farmaceutisk biovetenskap; Biopharmacy; Biofarmaci; farmakokinetik och läkemedelsterapi; Pharmacokinetics and Drug Therapy;

    Sammanfattning : Population pharmacokinetic (PK) – pharmacodynamic (PD) modelling, using nonlinear mixed effects models, is increasingly being applied to obtain PK-PD information in drug development. Covariate modelling, the establishment of relationships between model parameters and patient characteristics, is undertaken to explain PK-PD variability and facilitate dose adjustment decisions, and is consequently an important objective of population PK-PD. 5. 40. The Impact of Substance P (SP) N-Terminal Metabolite SP1-7 in Opioid Tolerance and Withdrawal

    Författare :Qin Zhou; Tsukasa Sakurada; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmaceutical biosciences; Farmaceutisk biovetenskap; Biopharmacy; Biofarmaci; farmaceutisk biokemi; Pharmaceutical Biochemistry;

    Sammanfattning : The heptapeptide SP1-7, a metabolite of the neuroactive peptide substance P (SP), is suggested to play a role in opioid addiction and memory function. These two dimensions are known to involve dopamine and glutamate transmissions mediated through dopamine receptors and N-methyl-D- aspartate (NNMA) receptors, respectively. LÄS MER
