6. Predictions Within and Across Aquatic Systems using Statistical Methods and Models
Sammanfattning : Aquatic ecosystems are an essential source for life and, in many regions, are exploited to a degree which deteriorates their ecological status. Today, more than 50 % of the European lakes suffer from an ecological status which is unsatisfactory. LÄS MER
7. Histopathological and neuroimaging studies in partial epilepsy with emphasis on malformations of cortical development
Sammanfattning : The aim of the first part of the present study was to describe the whole Göteborg epilepsy surgery series between 1987 and 1995 with respect to surgical procedures, histopathological findings and clinical correlates. We found a high proportion of malformations of cortical development (MCD) and patients with MCD were studied in further detail in the following studies. LÄS MER
8. On Distribution Coefficients in Aquatic Systems
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, different types of chemical and physical distribution coefficients are identified, examined and used to describe the fate and transport pathways of substances in aquatic systems.Observations from field experiments in streams with non-reactive and reactive tracers constituted the basis for development of an advection-dispersion model. 9. Terrain Modelling with GIS for Tectonic Geomorphology : Numerical Methods and Applications
Sammanfattning : Analysis of digital elevation models (DEMs) by means of geomorphometry provides means of recognising fractures and characterising the morphotectonics of an area in a quantitative way. The objective of the thesis is to develop numerical methods and a consistent GIS methodology for tectonic geomorphology and apply it to test sites. LÄS MER
10. Giant cell arteritis. Epidemiological, morphological and molecular genetic studies
Sammanfattning : Giant cell arteritis (GCA) is a chronic inflammatory disorder of unknown etiology, affecting large and medium-sized arteries, predominantly in postmenopausal women. Its pathogenesis is probably multifactorial. Several studies suggest that GCA is an antigen-driven disease. LÄS MER
