21. Ventilation and Lung Volume During Sleep and in Obstructive Sleep Apnea
Sammanfattning : Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) appears to affect up to 5% of the population. The extent to what pulmonary function awake and during sleep relates to obstructive breathing and hypoxemia during sleep in these patients is unclear. LÄS MER
22. Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease : clinical phenotyping, mortality and causes of death
Sammanfattning : Background: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is common. The estimated prevalence is about 10% among adults, but varies largely dependent on the major risk factors age and smoking. Under-diagnosis of COPD is substantial and is related to disease severity. LÄS MER
23. Tissue repair in lung disorders
Sammanfattning : The remodeling phase of tissue repair in lung disorders such as idiopathic pulmonary disease, asthma, obliterative bronchiolitis, and after lung transplantation is not well understood. One of the key players in fibrosis is the fibroblast and its progenitor, the fibrocyte. LÄS MER
24. Cytomegalovirus Infection in Heart and Lung Transplant Patients with focus on long-term outcome
Sammanfattning : Cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection is a common opportunistic infection after heart and lung transplantation. The aims of this thesis were to relate the incidence and severity of CMV infection and disease to different forms of antiviral prevention and to evaluate whether CMV is a risk factor for bronchiolitis obliterans syndrome (BOS) after lung transplantation and coronary artery vasculopathy (CAV) after heart transplantation. 25. Prevalence and incidence of and risk factors for asthma and exercise-induced laryngeal obstruction in elite endurance athletes
Sammanfattning : Background: Asthma is highly prevalent in endurance athletes, but we lack up-to-date information on the prevalence and incidence of asthma in cross-country skiers. Exercise-induced laryngeal obstruction (EILO) is an important differential diagnosis to exercise-induced asthma, and its symptoms can mimic asthma. LÄS MER
