  1. 1. Early rheumatoid arthritis aspects of severity and co-morbidity

    Författare :Lena Innala; Solveig Wållberg Jonsson; Solbritt Rantapää Dahlqvist; Sᴓren Jacobsen; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Early rheumatoid arthriti; ACPA; cardiovascular co-morbidity; age at onset; pharmacological therapy; severity; disease activity; co-morbidity;

    Sammanfattning : Background Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a systemic progressive destructive joint disease with an increased risk for co-morbidity and premature death if untreated. Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the main cause of death but also other co-morbid conditions contribute to the patient’s shorter life expectancy. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Functional gastrointestinal disorders : co-morbidity and non-somatic aspects

    Författare :Ture Ålander; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Epidemiology; gastrointestinal diseases; irritable bowel syndrome; dyspepsia; quality of life; child abuse; battered women; social support; anxiety; depression;

    Sammanfattning : Aims of the thesis: The first aim, (Study I) of this thesis was to compare co-morbidity of the reported symptoms and its relation to healthcare seeking behaviour among non-patients who had persistent functional gastro-intestinal disorders (FGID) or who were strictly GI symptom free (SSF). 3. 3. Provoked vestibulodynia : studies on pain genetics and pain co-morbidity

    Författare :Ulrika Heddini; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :provoked vestibulodynia;

    Sammanfattning : Objective: The purpose of this thesis was to investigate a possible genetic predisposition for developing provoked vestibulodynia (PVD), focusing on previously defined single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in three genes with a known influence on endogenous pain modulation: GCH1, OPRM1 and 5HT-2A. We also investigated the effects of any potential interactions between these SNPs and the use of hormonal contraceptives, serum levels of β-endorphin and symptoms of anxiety and depression, on the risk of developing PVD and general pain sensitivity. 4. 4. Clinical and immunological aspects of IgG subclass deficiency : Predictors for the need of immunoglobulin replacement therapy

    Författare :Per Wågström; Charlotte Dahle; Sofia N. Nyström; Åsa Nilsdotter-Augustinsson; Mats Nilsson; Ola Winqvist; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Immunoglobulin G subclass deficiency; inflammation; lymphocytes; fatigue; co-morbidity; immunoglobulin G replacement therapy;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Predominantly antibody deficiencies (PAD) are inborn errors of immunity, and associate with increased susceptibility to infections. Life-long immunoglobulin replacement therapy (IgRT) is introduced based on Ig-levels and the frequencies and severity of infections. LÄS MER
