  1. 16. Echocardiographic assessment of ventricular size and function in heart transplant patients

    Författare :Annika Ingvarsson; Kardiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Heart Transplantation; Echocardiography; Speckle tracking; Left ventricular assist device;

    Sammanfattning : AbstractThe overall aims of this thesis were to use echocardiography to non-invasively, delineate early structural andfunctional changes following orthotopic heart transplantation (OHT), and to define reference values in the contextof gender and bridging with mechanical circulatory support.Several factors might affect myocardial function in OHT patients rendering the use of normal values fortransthoracic echocardiography derived from healthy subjects unsatisfactory. 2. 17. Quantification of 4D Left Ventricular Blood Flow in Health and Disease

    Författare :Jonatan Eriksson; Tino Ebbers; Carl-Johan Carlhäll; Gianni Pedrizzetti; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MRI; relative pressure; 4D flow; quantification; turbulent kinetic energy; dilated cardiomyopathy; magnetic resonance imaging; physiology; cardiac function; diastolic dysfunction;

    Sammanfattning : The main function of the heart is to pump blood throughout the cardiovascular system by generating pressure differences created through volume changes. Although the main purpose of the heart and vessels is to lead the flowing blood throughout the body, clinical assessments of cardiac function are usually based on morphology, approximating the flow features by viewing the motion of the myocardium and vessels. 3. 18. New approaches to monitoring of cardiac function

    Författare :Emil Söderqvist; Lars-Åke Brodin; Michael Haney; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; left ventricle; pressure and volume; Medical engineering; Medicinsk teknik;

    Sammanfattning : Left ventricular pumping performance may be described by intraventricular pressure and volume variables, usually presented as a pressure-volume plot. However, on-line monitoring of left ventricular pressure and volume with high temporal resolution requires the use of an invasive catheter technique such as, for example, the conductance catheter method. 4. 19. On the assessment of right ventricular function using cardiac magnetic resonance imaging and echocardiography

    Författare :Stina Jorstig; Per Thunberg; Kent Emilsson; Mats Lidén; Micael Waldenborg; Einar Heiberg; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; right ventricle; stroke volume; ejection fraction; cardiac magnetic resonance; ehocardiography; Kirurgi; Surgery;

    Sammanfattning : Transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) and cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging are two commonly used imaging modalities for evaluating the size and function of the heart. There are advantages and disadvantages associated with both modalities when examining the right ventricle (RV). LÄS MER

  5. 20. Left ventricular function's relation to load, experimental studies in a porcine model

    Författare :Roman A'roch; Michael Haney; Jan Poelaert; Lars-Åke Brodin; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; heart function; preload; afterload; contractility; myocardial tissue velocity; speckle tracking; Anaesthetics and intensive care; Anestesiologi och intensivvård; Cardiology; kardiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Loading conditions are recognized to influence ventricular function according to the Starling relationship for length/stretch and force.  Many modern echocardiographic parameters which have been announced as describing ventricular function and contractile status, may be confounded by uncontrolled and unmeasured load.
