  1. 1. Managing hydrogeological risks in underground construction

    Författare :Johanna Merisalu; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; risk management; groundwater drawdown-induced damages; cost–benefit analysis; uncertainties; decision support;

    Sammanfattning : Groundwater leakage into underground constructions can cause groundwater drawdown and subsequently costly damages to objects impacted by changes in groundwater conditions. In order to reduce the damage risk, risk-reducing measures can be implemented. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Modelling long-term redox processes and oxygen scavenging in fractured crystalline rocks

    Författare :Magnus Sidborn; Ivars Neretnieks; Chin-Fu Tsang; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Redox chemistry; hydrogeological model; groundwater chemistry; mineral interaction; Chemical engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Under de senaste decennierna har i många länder, inkluderat Sverige, långt gångna planer utvecklats för ett djupförvar av högaktivt kärnavfall. Som en del i det svenska förvarskonceptet skall avfallet inneslutas i kopparkapslar som omslutes av återfyllnadsmaterial med mycket låg genomsläpplighet av vatten. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Modelling the impacts of deicing salt on soil water in a roadside environment

    Författare :Annika Lundmark; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Environmental technology; unsaturated soil; soil hydraulic properties; plant water characteristics; Swedish hydrogeological environments; monitoring; operative model; CoupModel; Miljöteknik; Environmental engineering; Miljöteknik;

    Sammanfattning : This study tested a dynamic modelling approach based on salt application, meteorological data and generic descriptions of hydrogeological environments for describing the spread of deicing salt to the surroundings and the corresponding increase in chloride storage in soil. Both the amount of chloride storage and the annual variation pattern were significantly altered due to deicing salt application and spread to the roadside environment. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Environmental and hydrogeological geophysics with applications in Thailand, Laos, and Sweden

    Författare :Kamhaeng Wattanasen; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Applied Geophysics; Tillämpad geofysik;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis presents applications of geophysical methods in the fields of environment and hydrogeology. In relation to environmental problems, two different geophysical surveys have been carried out; one to study an arsenic contaminated area in the southern Thailand (paper I) and a second to locate shallow faults in Quaternary sediments in an area around the Ongkharak Nuclear Research Centre, central Thailand (paper II). 5. 5. Monitoring transport and fate of de-icing salt in the roadside environment : Modelling and field measurements

    Författare :Annika Lundmark; Per-Erik Jansson; Bo Olofsson; Ann-Catrine Norrström; Helen K. French; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Chloride; De-icing salt; Groundwater; Modelling; Monitoring; Road; Roadside; Soil water; Water in nature and society; Vatten i natur och samhälle;

    Sammanfattning : Roads and traffic are a major non-point source of pollutants and may have severe impacts on surface water, groundwater, soil and vegetation. In cold climates, de-icing salt is one such pollutant that may cause increased chloride concentrations and induce other effects on the environment. LÄS MER
