1. Estimations of Hydrogeological Properties in Vulnerability and Risk Assessments
Sammanfattning : The main objective of this thesis was to evaluate and develop approaches for hydrogeological vulnerability and risk assessments, starting with scant data and updating the results as new information becomes available. This work was performed within three separate projects between 1989 and 1995. LÄS MER
2. Modelling long-term redox processes and oxygen scavenging in fractured crystalline rocks
3. Characterisation of Fractured Rock for Grouting Using Hydrogeological Methods
Sammanfattning : Sealing of tunnels by grouting demands knowledge concerning the fractured rock and the grout, followed by an appropriate choice of strategy and equipment. In this thesis, the characterisation of rock is the main issue and, since it addresses the engineering problem of producing a description for grouting, the properties of grout and the grouting procedure need to be considered. 4. The Impact of Fracture Geometry on the Hydromechanical Behaviour of Crystalline Rock
Sammanfattning : Effective construction of tunnels in fractured crystalline rock requires a unified approach for handling rock mechanics and hydrogeological issues. Traditionally, rock mechanics and hydrogeology not only use different nomenclature, they also measure parameters such as e.g. aperture differently. LÄS MER
5. Spatial variability of geogenic contaminants in drinking water sources : Insights into hydrogeological controls, geospatial data for safe water supply and groundwater resource management
Sammanfattning : The presence of geogenic contaminants in drinking water is a major health concern in many parts of the world. The interaction of groundwater with different rock types and sediments in the natural geochemical environment play an important role in controlling their mobility. LÄS MER
