  1. 6. CFD Predictions Including Verification and Validation of Hydrodynamic Forces and Moments on Ships in Restricted Waters

    Författare :Lu Zou; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; RANS; deep water; shallow water; ship-to-ship interaction; bank effects; tanker hulls; canal; verification and validation; drift motion; hydrodynamic forces and moments;

    Sammanfattning : The evaluation of ship manoeuvrability is of significance at the initial design stage, as inappropriate manoeuvring performance may result in unstable ship motion, difficulties in steering and even marine accidents. Restricted waters, with the presence of solid boundaries of the flow field, such as a shallow seabed below the hull, a side bank in the vicinity of the hull or another hull nearby, complicate the flow field and introduce an influence on hydrodynamic forces and moments acting on the hull. 2. 7. Using Energy Fluxes to Analyze the Hydrodynamic Performance of Marine Propulsion Systems

    Författare :Jennie Andersson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Propulsor-Hull interaction; Control volume analysis; RANS; Energy balance analysis; CFD;

    Sammanfattning : The strive towards more fuel efficient ships is a continuously ongoing process, motivated by both economic and regulatory reasons. An important aspects to consider for the final fuel consumption is the propulsion system performance in relevant operating conditions. LÄS MER

  3. 8. A Large Eddy Simulation Based Fluid-Structure Interaction Methodology with Application in Hydroelasticity

    Författare :Andreas Feymark; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; hydroelasticity; subgrid modeling; large eddy simulation; trip model; fluid- structure interaction; numerical simulation; forced oscillation; naval architecture; hydrodynamics;

    Sammanfattning : The phenomenon of hydroelasticity is a subarea of Fluid-Structure Interaction (FSI) and of major importance in many engineering applications related to hydrodynamics and naval architecture e.g. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Jet-wind interaction in neutron star mergers

    Författare :Lorenzo Nativi; Stephan Rosswog; Jesper Sollerman; Felix Ryde; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; jets; kilonova; macronova; gamma-ray burst; neutron star merger; compact objects; Astronomy; astronomi;

    Sammanfattning : Besides being sources of gravitational waves, there has been evidence that neutron starmergers release neutron-rich material suitable for the production of heavy r-process nuclei.The radioactive decay of these freshly synthesised elements powers a rapidly evolvingthermal transient, the “macronova” (also known as “kilonova”). 5. 10. Monitoring of wear in elasto- hydrodynamic lubricated contacts : Running-in and failure propagation

    Författare :Stephan Schnabel; Lars-Erik Stacke; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Maskinelement; Machine Elements;

    Sammanfattning : Elasto-hydrodynamic lubricated (EHL) contacts can be found in various machine elements or systems, like rolling element bearings, cam followers or gear transmissions. The service life of these elements and systems are depending to some extent on the performance of EHL contacts. LÄS MER
