  1. 11. Molecular perspectives on goethite dissolution in the presence of oxalate and desferrioxamine-B

    Författare :Anna A. Simanova; John Loring; Owen Duckworth; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Chemistry; Kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Iron, an essential nutrient, is primarily present in soils in the form of iron-bearing minerals characterized with low solubilities. Under iron deficient conditions, some plants and microorganisms exude a mixture of iron-complexing agents, including carboxylates and siderophores, that can cause minerals to dissolve and increase iron solubility. 2. 12. Transport of Radionuclides and Colloid Through Quartz Sand Columns

    Författare :Birgit Christiansen-Sätmark; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; transport; radionuclides; Goethite column experiments; sorption; Quartz; colloid;

    Sammanfattning : Studies of the transport of radionuclides in the geosphere are one of the main tasks for performance assessment of a nuclear waste repository. A possible enhanced transport path for the radionuclides is the formation and transport of non-depositing colloids with a high affinity for radionuclides. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Aqueous speciation and surface complexation to goethite (α-FeOOH), of divalent mercury, lead and cadmium

  4. 14. Modelling precipitation and surface complexation reactions in systems with Goethite, Cu(II) and Oxyanions Containing As(V) or P(V)

    Författare :Hanna Nelson; Lars Lövgren; Staffan Sjöberg; Per Persson; M. Clara F. Magalhaes; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The aqueous solubility of oxyanion (e.g. phosphates and arsenates), and thereby their mobility, bioavailability (phosphates) and toxicity (arsenates), in soils and sediments is dependent upon their chemical speciation. In complex, multicomponent systems, equilibrium modelling can be a useful tool to predict chemical speciation. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Surface reactions on mineral particles controlling the hydrolysis of glucose phosphates

    Författare :Rickard Olsson; Per Persson; Reiner Giesler; Dean L. Hesterberg; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Chemistry; Kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Phosphorus (P) is an essential nutrient. A significant amount of soil P may be in the form of organophosphates. Due to the size of these compounds, hydrolysis is often required before P can be assimilated by organisms. Hydrolysis may be mediated by mineral surfaces, or catalyzed by extra cellular enzymes.
