11. Inhibition of apoptosis by the Us3 protein kinase of herpes simplex virus 1
Sammanfattning : The Herpes Simplex Virus 1 (HSV-1) US3 protein kinase is part of the anti-apoptotic arsenal that salvage HSV-1-infected cells from damage caused by different stimuli. The Us3 gene encodes a protein kinase that phosphorylates serine/threonine residues within a specific arginine-rich consensus sequence. LÄS MER
12. Spectral and Temporal Studies of Gamma-Ray Bursts
Sammanfattning : Gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) are sporadic flashes of light observed primarily in the gamma-ray band. Being the brightest explosions in the Universe since its birth, they are at present also the furthest astronomical sources detected. LÄS MER
13. Long-term follow-up of prenatally dexamethasone-treated children at risk for congenital adrenal hyperplasia
Sammanfattning : Congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH) is a disorder of steroid genesis affecting approximately 1:10 000 children and leading to increased levels of androgens during foetal life and subsequent virilization of external genitalia in affected girls. However, prenatal virilization can be eliminated by antenatal dexamethasone (DEX) treatment. LÄS MER
14. Generation of magnetic fields in plasmas
Sammanfattning : Relativistic and non-relativistic plasma outflows are quite ubiquitous in astrophysical scenarios, as well as in laboratory plasmas. The propagation of relativistic and non- relativistic charged particle beams in background plasmas provides return currents in the opposite direction and interactions between the currents then drive several plasma instabilities involving the longitudinal (electrostatic instabilities) and trans- verse (electromagnetic instability) modes. 15. Search for Neutrinos from Gamma-ray Bursts using the IceCube Neutrino Observatory
Sammanfattning : Gamma ray bursts (GRBs) are short bursts of high energy γ-radiation and are among some of the most energetic phenomena in the universe. GRBs have three distinct emission phases: the prompt phase with high-energy γ-rays, the precursor phase which is the time interval before the prompt phase and is reported to have an additional smaller burst for some GRBs, and the afterglow phase which is the time interval after the prompt phase with observations for electromagnetic radiation across a large wavelength range reported for many GRBs.
