1. Analyses of Rat Tumor Models for DMBA-induced Fibrosarcoma and Spontaneous Endometrial Carcinoma
Sammanfattning : Cancer is a disease of genes. Uncontrolled cell growth is the outcome from genetic as well as epigenetic alterations, resulting in a tumor cell mass that harbors a cancer genome. During progression, the tumor acquires self-dependence and the ability to invade other tissues and metastasize. LÄS MER
2. Role of syndecan-1 in tumor cell proliferation and epithelial-mesenchymal plasticity
Sammanfattning : Syndecan-1 (SDC1) is a heparan sulfate proteoglycan (HSPG) intercalated in the cell membrane but also translocated to the cell nucleus in a regulated manner. SDC1 is involved in several malignancy-associated processes such as proliferation and migration. LÄS MER
3. Studies on syndecan-1 in mesenchymal tumors
Sammanfattning : The syndecans are a four-member family of type I transmembrane proteoglycans. Their core proteins have a short cytoplasmic domain, a transmembrane domain and a large N-terminal extracellular domain possessing glycosaminoglycan chains. All the protein domains and the glycosaminoglycan chains can contribute to the functions of syndecans. LÄS MER
4. Identification of the common eliminated region (CER1) by the microcell hybrid based 'elimination test'
Sammanfattning : The aim of elimination test (Et) is to identify tumor antagonizing genes from chromosome regions that are regularly deleted in microcell hybrid (MCH) derived tumors through serial SCID mice passages. Et so far was focused on the short arm of human chromosome 3 (chr 3) due to its frequent deletions in 21 tumor types including renal cell carcinoma (RCC), small cell lung carcinoma (SCLC) and breast cancer (BRC). 5. Involvement of T lymphocyte subsets in the rejection of murine tumors by syngeneic or autologous hosts
Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis is to study the requirement of CD4+ and CD8+ T Iymphocyte subset, CD28 costimulatory molecule and p56kk for the rejection of syngeneic tumor grafts, and the autochthonous tumors induced by Moloney murine sarcoma virus. It also addresses the role of CD4+ and CD8+ T subsets with regard to the polyomavirus persistence and tumor development. LÄS MER
