11. Porous materials based on nanopolysaccharides for medical applications: Effect of crosslinking on pore structure and mechanical performance
Sammanfattning : The objective of this work was to develop nanochitin- and nanocellulose-based crosslinked porous nanostructured materials for wound dressing and cartilage repair with suitable porosity and mechanical properties to facilitate cell growth. In the first part of the work (papers I-III), chitosan-based nanocomposites loaded with a high concentration (50 wt%) of chitin nanocrystals (ChNC) and cellulose nanocrystals (CNC) were prepared via electrospinning for use as wound dressing materials. 12. Development of low-cost ionic liquids based technology for CO2 separation
Sammanfattning : CO2 separation plays an important role to mitigate the CO2 emissions due to burning of fossil fuels, and it is also of importance in biofuel production (e.g. biogas upgrading and bio-syngas purification and conditioning). The solvent-based absorption is the state-of-art technology for CO2 separation, where various solvents, e. LÄS MER
13. The influence of SO2 on the high temperature corrosion of Fe and Fe-Cr alloys
Sammanfattning : Sulfur dioxide is an important pollutant in combustion gases and plays a major role in the high temperature corrosion of many metals and alloys. This work investigates the influence of small amounts of SO2 on the high temperature corrosion of iron, chromium and several Fe-Cr alloys. LÄS MER
14. CO2 Capture through Integration of Aqueous and Immobilized Deep Eutectic Solvents
Sammanfattning : The growing global concern over rising CO2 emissions and its significant impact on climate change highlight the urgent need for efficient CO2 capture technologies. Among the array of techniques employed for this purpose, chemical absorption stands out, characterized by high capture capacity, promising efficiency, and versatile applicability. LÄS MER
15. Edible and Biodegradable Whey Protein Films as Barriers in Foods and Food Packaging
Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on the characterization of whey protein films. The films were cast from heated aqueous solutions and dried in a climate room at 23 °C and 50% relative humidity for 16 h. The microstructure of the films was found to be dependent on the protein concentration, the plasticizers, and the pH. LÄS MER
