  1. 1. The National Early Warning Score (NEWS) - Testing and evaluation in a Swedish setting

    Författare :Martin Spångfors; Anestesiologi och intensivvård; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Early Warning Score; Critical Care; National Early Warning Score; in-hospital cardiac arrest; Patient Safety; Critical care outreach;

    Sammanfattning : BackgroundDeviating vital signs have been known to precede Serious Adverse Events (SAEs) like In-Hospital Cardiac Arrest (IHCA), unplanned Intensive Care Unit (ICU) admission or unexpected death for more than a decade but still the recognition of these deteriorating patients is poor.The British National Early Warning Score (NEWS) is a ‘‘track and trigger’’ scale designed to assess in-hospital patients’ vital signs and detect clinical deterioration. 2. 2. In-hospital patient safety - prevention of deterioration and unexpected death by systematic and interprofessional use of early warning scoring

    Författare :Gitte Bunkenborg; Anestesiologi och intensivvård; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Patient safety; Adverse event; Vital parameters; Deterioration; Early warning score; Mortality rate; Unexpected death; Clinical intervention; Adherence; Implementation; association;

    Sammanfattning : Abstract In-hospital patient safety is at times hampered, leaving general ward patients at considerable risk of gradual, even life-threatening, deterioration. In many European clinical settings, inappropriate nursing practice of bedside monitoring and management has recently been addressed as impending to in-hospital patient safety. LÄS MER

  3. 3. On sepsis - epidemiology, prediction and diagnostics

    Författare :Lisa Mellhammar; Infektionsmedicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; sepsis; Epidemiologi; Early Warning Score; Bacteremia;

    Sammanfattning : The overall aims of this thesis were to improve prediction, diagnostics and knowledge on epidemiology of sepsis. In paper I, we developed and evaluated an integrated platform for rapid analysis of sepsis-causing organisms directly from blood samples. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Early Detection and Treatment for Children : Experiences and outcome of implementation at a pediatric hospital

    Författare :Ann-Charlotte Almblad; Mats Målqvist; Gunn Engvall; Inger Hallström; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; PEWS; Pediatric; Clinical deterioration; inter-professionell; teamwork; ACT; PARiHS; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science;

    Sammanfattning : Early recognition of severely ill children is necessary to prevent serious adverse events and unexpected death. To promote patient safety the Early Detection and Treatment Program for Children (EDT-C) was developed at a University Children’s Hospital in Sweden. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Earth Observation (EO) satellites have great potential in wildfire detection and assessment at fine spatial, temporal, and spectral resolutions. For a long time, satellite data have been employed to systematically monitor wildfire dynamics and assess wildfire impacts, including (i) to detect the location of actively burning spots, (ii) to map the spatial extent of the burn scars, (iii) to assess the wildfire damage levels.
