31. Living in a predation matrix : Studies on fish and their prey in a Baltic Sea coastal area
Sammanfattning : This thesis was written within the framework of a biomanipulation project where young-of-the-year (YOY) pikeperch (Sander lucioperca) were stocked to a Baltic Sea bay to improve water quality through a top-down trophic cascade. The aim of my doctorial studies was however focused on a broader ecological question, namely predation (the main driving force in a biomanipulation). LÄS MER
32. Survival of the Tamest : The Domesticated Phenotype in Red Junglefowl Selected for Tameness
Sammanfattning : Early animal domestication was probably associated with reduced fear of humans. Domestication is a process in which animals adapt to humans and the captive environment provided by humans. Selection on tameness as the only trait has previously been found to generate changes in other phenotypes in different animal species. LÄS MER
33. Energy Consumption and Running Time for Trains : modelling of running resistance and driver behaviour based on full scale testing
Sammanfattning : The accuracy in determined energy consumption and runningtime of trains, by means of computer simulation, is dependent upon the various models used. This thesis aims at developing validated models of running resistance, train and of a generaldriver, all based on full scale testing. LÄS MER
34. Driver interaction with vulnerable road users: Modelling driver behaviour in crossing scenarios
Sammanfattning : Every year, more than 5000 pedestrians and 2000 cyclists die on European roads. These vulnerable road users (VRUs) are especially at risk when interacting with cars. Intelligent safety systems (ISSs), designed to mitigate or avoid crashes between cars and VRUs, first entered the market a few years ago, and still need to be improved to be effective. LÄS MER
35. Truck Tyre Vibration Behaviour. Measurements and High Frequency Modelling
Sammanfattning : To facilitate tyre-road noise prediction, a computationally efficient high frequency tyre model is needed. Such models are always a compromise between the desired accuracy and the need for simplicity. In addition the accuracy of models is often limited by the quality of the input data available. LÄS MER
