  1. 16. Methods for Reliable Image Registration : Algorithms, Distance Measures, and Representations

    Författare :Johan Öfverstedt; Natasa Sladoje; Mattias Heinrich; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Image registration; alignment; local optimization; global optimization; mutual information; normalized gradient fields; representation learning; Computerized Image Processing; Datoriserad bildbehandling;

    Sammanfattning : Much biomedical and medical research relies on the collection of ever-larger amounts of image data (both 2D images and 3D volumes, as well as time-series) and increasingly from multiple sources. Image registration, the process of finding correspondences between images based on the affinity of features of interest, is often required as a vital step towards the final analysis, which may consist of a comparison of images, measurement of movement, or fusion of complementary information. 2. 17. Computerized Cell and Tissue Analysis

    Författare :Azadeh Fakhrzadeh; Gunilla Borgefors; Cris Luengo Hendriks; Lena Holm; Nasir Rajpoot; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Image processing; Cell; Tissue; Segmentation; Classification; Histology; Computerized Image Processing; Datoriserad bildbehandling;

    Sammanfattning : The latest advances in digital cameras combined with powerful computer software enable us to store high-quality microscopy images of specimen. Studying hundreds of images manually is very time consuming and has the problem of human subjectivity and inconsistency. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Interactive 3D Image Analysis for Cranio-Maxillofacial Surgery Planning and Orthopedic Applications

    Författare :Johan Nysjö; Ingela Nyström; Filip Malmberg; Ida-Maria Sintorn; Jayaram K. Udupa; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; medical image analysis; interactive segmentation; volume rendering; computed tomography; Computerized Image Processing; Datoriserad bildbehandling;

    Sammanfattning : Modern medical imaging devices are able to generate highly detailed three-dimensional (3D) images of the skeleton. Computerized image processing and analysis methods, combined with real-time volume visualization techniques, can greatly facilitate the interpretation of such images and are increasingly used in surgical planning to aid reconstruction of the skeleton after trauma or disease. 4. 19. Quantitative image analysis : a focus on automated characterization of structures in optical microscopy of iron ore pellets

    Författare :Frida Nellros; Carolina Wählby; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Signalbehandling; Signal Processing;

    Sammanfattning : Sintering occurs in many types of material such as iron, ceramics and snow, typically during thermal treatment, and aects the material properties, particularly the strength, by the bonding of particles into a coherent structure. In order to improve the mechanical strength in magnetite iron ore pellets it is important to be able to characterize and quantitatively measure the degree of sintering and features that impact the process of sintering. 5. 20. Interpreting the Script : Image Analysis and Machine Learning for Quantitative Studies of Pre-modern Manuscripts

    Författare :Fredrik Wahlberg; Anders Brun; Lasse Mårtensson; Ewert Bengtsson; Apostolos Antonacopoulos; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; document analysis; machine learning; image analysis; digital humanities; document dating; writer identification; text recognition; Datavetenskap; Computer Science;

    Sammanfattning : The humanities have for a long time been a collection of fields that have not gained from the advancements in computational power, as predicted by Moore´s law.  Fields like medicine, biology, physics, chemistry, geology and economics have all developed quantitative tools that take advantage of the exponential increase of processing power over time.
