1. Carbon Monoxide in Catalytic Hydrogenations: A Poison or a Promoter?
Sammanfattning : The hydrogenation of a,b-unsaturated aldehydes was studied over a platinum catalyst. It was shown that the catalyst was rapidly deactivated by CO formed by decarbonylation of the aldehyde. This deactivation was suppressed by the addition of small amounts of oxygen to the feed, since CO was oxidized to CO2 in the presence of oxygen. LÄS MER
2. Transition Metal Catalysis for Selective Synthesis and Sustainable Chemistry
Sammanfattning : This thesis discusses the preparation and use of transition-metal catalysts for selective organic chemical reactions. Specifically, two different matters have been studied; the asymmetric hydrogenation of carbon-carbon double bonds using N,P-ligated iridium catalysts and the metal-catalyzed transfer of small molecules from biomass to synthetic intermediates. 3. Coordination of Phosphine-Thioether Ligands to Low-valent Metal Centers
Sammanfattning : The reactivity of the phosphine-thioether ligands bis(2-diphenylphosphino) ethylthio)ethane (PSSP), bis(2-(diphenylphosphino) ethyl)sulfane (PSP), PPh2CH2CH2SMe (PS), PPh2(o-C6H4SMe (PortoS), and PPh(o-C6H4SMe)2 (PSS) towards low-valent carbonyl clusters has been studied. In all structurally characterized clusters, the ligand donor atoms are terminally coordinated. LÄS MER
4. Hydrodeoxygenation (HDO) catalysts Characterization, reaction and deactivation studies
Sammanfattning : Production of biomass derived fuels such as renewable diesel, are primarily intended to reduce the reliance of the conventional engines on petroleum fuels as well as the emission of CO2 from fossil hydrocarbons. Hydrodeoxygenation (HDO) is a powerful technique that has been regularly used in the fuel upgrading processes. LÄS MER
