6. Tales of Tailbiting Codes
Sammanfattning : Tailbiting codes are error correcting codes and can be used in digital transmission systems. They are obtained by terminating convolutional codes into block codes. This thesis consists of an introduction to convolutional and tailbiting codes, and the Papers A--G that include the main results. LÄS MER
7. Joint Source-Channel Coding using Trellis Coded CPM
Sammanfattning : The thesis investigates Joint Source and Channel Coding(JSCC) using combined Trellis Coded Quantization (TCQ) and coded modulation. First we investigate a JSCC scheme using combined TCQ/Trellis Coded CPM (TCQ/TCCPM). Based on the BCJR algorithm for trellis coded CPM, we derive an optimal soft decoding algorithm for the considered systems. LÄS MER
8. On the Design of Error Control Coding for Wireless Communication Systems
Sammanfattning : New wireless services such as mobile Internet, multimedia streaming and high speed packet data access are making their way to the market. Availability of low-cost equipment providing high transmission quality and efficient spectrum utilization is crucial to the success of these services. LÄS MER
9. Trellis Decoding: From Algorithm to Flexible Architectures
Sammanfattning : Trellis decoding is a popular method to recover encoded information corrupted during transmission over a noisy channel. Prominent members of this class of decoding algorithms are the Viterbi algorithm, which provides maximum likelihood estimates, and the BCJR algorithm, which is a maximum a posteriori estimator commonly used in iterative decoding. 10. On Bit-interleaved Coded Modulation with QAM Constellations
Sammanfattning : Bit-interleaved coded modulation (BICM) is a flexible modulation/coding scheme which allows the designer to choose a modulation constellation independently of the coding rate. This is because the output of the channel encoder and the input to the modulator are separated by a bit-level interleaver. LÄS MER
