  1. 16. The impact of different techniques used for coronary angiography and percutaneous coronary intervention on the occurrence of procedure-related ischemic cerebral complications

    Författare :Juliane Jurga; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Coronary angiography (CA) is the gold standard in diagnosing and determining the treatment of patients with coronary heart disease. Procedure-related neurological complications are rare; 0.1-0.4% for CA and percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). LÄS MER

  2. 17. Blood pressure in acute ischaemic stroke : blood pressure and stress in the acute phase of stroke and influence of initial blood pressure on stroke-outcome

    Författare :Niaz Ahmed; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Stroke; cerebral ischaemia; cerebral infarction; brain infarction; cerebrovascular disorder; blood pressure; hypertension; stroke classification; stroke subtypes; clinical trials; stress; cortisol; glucocorticoid; nimodipine; Calcium channel blockers; outcome; OCSP; RCT;

    Sammanfattning : Background and objectives: Most patients (70-80%) with acute ischaemic or haemorrhagic stroke exhibit a high systemic blood pressure (BP) on admission to hospital even in the absence of a history of hypertension (=50%). In matched-control patients admitted to hospital for other acute diseases the proportion of high BP is only 36%. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Trombolys och biokemiska markörer : i den prehospitala fasen av akuta koronara syndrom

    Författare :Leif Svensson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Prehospital thrombolysis; acute myocardial infarction. Biochemical markers; prehospital phase.;

    Sammanfattning : Efficacy of thrombolytic therapy among patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction is time dependent. The earlier treatment can be started the more powerful are the effects on reducing infarct size, preservation of ventricular function and reducing long and short-term mortality. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Advanced radiological imaging in patients treated with Extracorporeal Memebrane Oxygenation

    Författare :Marika Lidegran; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :ECMO; computed tomography; magnetic resonance imaging; acute respiratory distress syndrome; thorax; abdomen; intracranial hemorrhage; cerebral infarction; follow-up;

    Sammanfattning : Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) is the use of a modified heart-lung machine to support life during severe acute cardiac and/or respiratory failure. Patients on ECMO are at high risk for complications due to the severe underlying disease and to the ECMO procedure itself. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Experimental and clinical perspective on stroke : evaluation by behavior, magnetic resonance imaging and morphology

    Författare :Zhengguang Chen; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Cerebral ischemia; stroke; penumbra; behavior; hemodynamics; MRI; perfusion; diffusion; relaxation times; rat;

    Sammanfattning : In order to further improve the diagnostic power of the NEU technique in the use for clinical evaluation of brain lesions, like in stroke patients, a biological model system had to be implemented where the relevant aspects of the brain injury and its effects could be mimicked. Two well controlled and reproducible rat models were chosen, one developed by Bjelke et al. LÄS MER
