21. Grating Based Lasers for Photonic Integration and Surface Emission
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with the fabrication and characterization of grating-based integration-compatible semiconductor lasers. Waveguide gratings provide feedback for the laser resonators, and are used to diffract the laser output out of the waveguide for surface-emission. LÄS MER
22. Photonic MEMS for optical information technologies
Sammanfattning : Photonic integrated circuits (PICs) combine hundreds of optical components on a chip, and can enable fast communications, high-performance computing, and improved sensing. PICs, made by miniaturized optical waveguides, require many reconfigurable elements to enable programmable functionalities and to compensate for fabrication variations and environmental factors. 23. Compact diode-pumped solid-state lasers
Sammanfattning : Compact diode-pumped solid-state lasers (DPSSL) arecontinuously replacing traditional gas lasers as well asenabling completely new technology. However, compact and costefficient designs are required to satisfy end-user demands. Theaim of this thesis was therefore to investigate novel laserdesigns for given applications considering these demands. LÄS MER
24. Fabrication and Characterization of Integration Compatible Semiconductor Lasers
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with the fabrication and characterization of integration compatible semiconductor lasers. An extensive investigation of electron-beam lithography (EBL) and chemically assisted ion beam etching (CAIBE) for the fabrication of vertical ultra- high quality facets in GaAs, as well as a systematic characterization of grating coupled surface emitting lasers is presented. 25. Laser Remote Sensing for Environmental Monitoring
Sammanfattning : This thesis studies the techniques of laser remote sensing and their applications in environmental monitoring, as documented in several published papers. The environment where the human being live is degrading with an accelerating speed. LÄS MER
