16. An Intense Attosecond Light Source - Towards Extreme Ultraviolet Pump-Probe Experiments
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents important steps towards performing high-intensity attosecond pump-probe experiments at the Lund high-intensity extreme ultraviolet (XUV) beamline, which followed two complementary paths: maximization of the XUV intensity available in the interaction region with a gas target, and providing attosecond temporal resolution. To maximize the energy of the XUV pulses generated via high-order harmonicgeneration (HHG), the macroscopic response of atoms to the driving infrared field was optimized. 17. Atomic and Molecular Dynamics Probed by Intense Extreme Ultraviolet Attosecond Pulses
Sammanfattning : This thesis work was aimed to investigate dynamical processes in atoms and molecules on ultrafast time scales initiated by absorption of light in the extreme ultraviolet (XUV) regime. In particular, photoionization and photodissociation have been studied using pump-probe techniques involving ultrafast laser pulses. LÄS MER
18. Optimization of High-order Harmonic Generation for Attosecond Science
Sammanfattning : High-order harmonic generation is a highly nonlinear, though inherently inefficient, process which can lead to emission of coherent, broadband extreme ultraviolet radiation in the form of attosecond pulses. Attosecond pulses are crucial for experiments investigating photoionization dynamics on the femto- and attosecond timescales. LÄS MER
19. Short Attosecond Pulse Trains at High Repetition Rates for Novel Pump-Probe and Coincidence Studies
Sammanfattning : This work aims at studying photoionization dynamics from atoms and surfaces at attose time scales. The work was based on development and applications of a high repetition rate High-order Harmonic Generation (HHG) light source that utilizes Optical Parametric Amplification (OPA) laser technology. 20. Photoemission Electron Microscopy for Ultrafast Nano-Optics - Femtoseconds to Attoseconds
Sammanfattning : Ultrafast nano-optics is a new and quickly evolving research field centred around the control, manipulation, and application of light on a nanometre and femtosecond scale. This can lead to improved electro-optical devices, more sensitive spectroscopy, and real-time control of chemical reactions. LÄS MER
