21. Applications of Vectorcardiography for Diagnosis and Risk Stratification in Subpopulations at Risk for Life-Threatening Arrhythmias
Sammanfattning : Introduction: Vectorcardiography, or 3-dimensional electrocardiography is a tool which can be used to identify subtle changes in the electrical forces of the heart, and which can be applied to atrial depolarization, ventricular depolarization and ventricular repolarization for prognostic and diagostic purposes. Methods: Kor’s regression-related and quasi orthogonal methods was used to derive vectorcardiographic parameters from the 12-lead electrocardiogram and applied to a cohort of cryptogenic stroke patients to assess atrial fibrillation, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy patients to assess for ventricular arrhythmias, applied with right-precordial directed quasi orthogonal method to arrhythmogenic right ventricular dysplasia/cardiomyopathy (ARVC/D) patients for diagnosis, and applied to ventricular repolarization only to patients with genotype-positive/phenotype-negative Long QT2 syndrome (KNCH2 mutation) to assess for cardiac events. 22. Health-related quality of life in recipients with an implantable cardioverter defibrillator due to life-threatening arrhythmias : a 5 year follow-up
Sammanfattning : The general aim of this thesis was to describe self-reported health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in recipients with an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) due to life-threatening arrhythmias over a 5-year period. The design was prospective and longitudinal. LÄS MER

24. Atrial fibrillation : clinical presentation and management, with special emphasis on magnesium therapy
Sammanfattning : Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common sustained cardiac arrhythmia, causing disabling symptoms, risk of thromboembolic events and increased mortality. Some patients with AF are asymptomatic, but to what extent these patients differ from patients with symptoms is unclear. LÄS MER
25. Atrial fibrillation : clinical presentation and prevention of recurrences
Sammanfattning : Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common sustained arrhythmia of clinical importance. AF is known to decrease quality of life and it is related to an increased morbidity and a risk of tromboembolic events. AF may also be asymptomatic, and to what extent patients actually are able to distinguish between sinus rhythm (SR) and AF is unknown. LÄS MER
