  1. 6. Chemical composition of summertime High Arctic aerosols

    Författare :Karolina Siegel; Claudia Mohr; Annica Ekman; Ilona Riipinen; Lise Lotte Sørensen; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; aerosol; chemical composition; Arctic climate; atmosfärvetenskap och oceanografi; Atmospheric Sciences and Oceanography;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis presents new insights into the chemical composition of semi-volatile compounds in aerosol samples collected in the central Arctic Ocean close to the North Pole in September 2018. The central Arctic Ocean is an inaccessible location due to the lack of land areas along with heavy pack ice conditions. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Modelling the early to mid-Holocene Arctic climate

    Författare :Marit Berger; Arne Johansson; Rodrigo Caballero; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :Arctic; early Holocene; mid-Holocene; climate modelling; paleoclimate; sea ice; climate change;

    Sammanfattning : In the recent past it has become evident that the Earth's climate is changing, and that human activity play a significant role in these changes. One of the regions where the ongoing climate change has been most evident is in the Arctic: the surface temperature has increased twice as much in this region as compared to the global average, in addition, a significant decline in the Arctic sea-ice extent has been observed in the past decades. 3. 8. Isotope-based source apportionment of black carbon aerosols in the Eurasian Arctic

    Författare :Patrik Winiger; Örjan Gustafsson; Meinrat O. Andreae; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Black Carbon; Radiocarbon; Air Pollution; Arctic Amplification; Climate Change; Arctic Haze; Atmospheric Transport Modeling; Emission Inventory; Carbon Isotopes; Applied Environmental Science; tillämpad miljövetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Aerosols change the Earth's energy balance. Black carbon (BC) aerosols are a product of incomplete combustion of fossil fuels and biomass burning and cause a net warming through aerosol radiation interactions (ari) and aerosol cloud interactions (aci). LÄS MER

  4. 9. Chemical perspectives on aerosol-cloud interactions in the High Arctic

    Författare :Karolina Siegel; Claudia Mohr; Annica M. L. Ekman; Ilona Riipinen; Ryan Sullivan; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Aerosol chemical composition; DMS oxidation; FIGAERO-CIMS; κ-Köhler theory; High Arctic; Atmospheric Sciences and Oceanography; atmosfärvetenskap och oceanografi;

    Sammanfattning : Atmospheric aerosol particles have important yet highly uncertain impacts on the Earth’s climate, with the largest uncertainties residing in the interactions between aerosols and clouds. The extent to which aerosols act as cloud condensation nuclei (CCN) depends on the chemical composition and size of the particles. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Amino acids with relevance to health, climate and the environment : Development of mass spectrometric methods

    Författare :Javier Zurita; Leopold Ilag; Ulrika Nilsson; Margareta Törnqvist; Natalia Tretyakova; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; amino acids; LC MS; fixed-charge derivatization; BMAA; chiral separation; pheromones; arctic aerosols; serum albumin adducts; benzo[a]pyrene diol epoxides; high-resolution MS; Analytical Chemistry; analytisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Amino acids play vital roles in health, either in their native form or chemically modified. Some studies have linked certain non-proteinogenic amino acids to neurodegenerative diseases, such as in the case of β-methylaminoalanine (BMAA). LÄS MER
