  2. 12. Dynamics of the HIV-2-specific immunoglobulin A(IgA) response

    Författare :Qin Lizeng; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Human; HIV; Immunology; Pathogenesis; Antibodies IgA IgG; Epitopes; Neutralization;

    Sammanfattning : Millions of lives are affected by infection with HIV, which causes AIDS if untreated. HIV transmission occurs primarily through sexual contact across mucosal surfaces. In the mucosal immune response, IgA is considered the first defense line against HIV invasion. LÄS MER

    Författare :Marcel Frankowiack; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Selective IgA deficiency (IgAD) is the most common primary immunodeficiency disorder in Caucasians and is defined as serum IgA concentrations below or equal to 0.07 g/l, with normal serum concentrations of IgM and IgG, in individuals 4 years of age or older. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Anti-phosphorylcholine antibodies in cardiovascular disease

    Författare :Roland Fiskesund; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of morbidity and mortality in the industrialized countries and a growing concern for the developing world. The underlying cause of almost all CVD is atherosclerosis, a process that is characterized by a low-grade inflammation in the artery walls. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Dendritic cell and IgA responses in SIV and HIV-1 pathogenesis

    Författare :Johan Söderlund; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :DC; SIV; HIV-1; macaques; neutralizing antibodies; IgA;

    Sammanfattning : Simian immunodeficiency virus (SIV) as well as human immunodeficiency virus (HIV-1) can infect different subsets of dendritic cells (DC). Such cells may therefore not only be involved in the generation of recruitment of naïve T and B lymphocytes in induction of SIV/HIV-1 specific adaptive responses but also transmit virus from port of entrance to the secondary lymphoid compartment generating systemic viral spread.
