36. Fibre/fibre joints : their characterization and influence on different paper strength properties
Sammanfattning : The main goal of this work was to gain knowledge of how to process the fibres for a certain enduse purpose. To reach this knowledge it must be clarified how different fibre properties, mechanical and chemical as well as surface and bulk properties, will influence the physical properties of the formed paper. 37. Polyelectrolyte complexes : Preparation, characterization, and use for control of wet and dry adhesion between surfaces
Sammanfattning : This thesis examines polyelectrolyte complex (PEC) preparation, adsorption behaviour, and potential use for control of wet and dry adhesion between surfaces. PEC formation was studied using a jet-mixing method not previously used for mixing polyelectrolytes. LÄS MER
38. Grinding effects on surface integrity, flexural strength and contact damage resistance of coated hardmetals
Sammanfattning : The tribological and mechanical behavior of coated tools depends not only on intrinsic properties of the deposited film but also on substrate surface and subsurface properties – such as topography and residual stress state – as well as on interface adhesion strength. It is particularly true in the case of coated tools based on WC-Co cemented carbides (backbone materials of the tool manufacturing industry, and simply referred to as hardmetals in practice) as substrates. 39. Shear Strength of Unfilled and Rough Rock Joints in Sliding Stability Analyses of Concrete Dams
Sammanfattning : The horizontal water load combined with uplift forces implies that concrete damsare sensitive for sliding. At the same time, the safety of concrete dams againstsliding in the rock foundation is associated with large uncertainties. One of themain uncertainties regards the shear strength of rock joints. 40. Water resistance of Scots pine joints produced by linear friction welding
Sammanfattning : Wood welding is a mechanical friction process allowing the assembly of timber without any adhesives. The process consists of applying mechanical friction, under pressure, alternately to the two wood surfaces to be welded. LÄS MER
