6. Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography : Perforation and long-term outcomes after endoscopic sphincterotomy
Sammanfattning : Endoscopic retrograde cholangio pancreatography (ERCP) is a commonly used procedure in various disorders of the pancreatobiliary tract. When extracting common bile duct stones (CBDS), the major duodenal papilla is divided using a papillotome to perform an endoscopic sphincterotomy (ES). LÄS MER
7. Studies of innate and adaptive lymphocytes in human liver diseases and viral infections
Sammanfattning : The immune system, including innate and adaptive lymphocytes, is involved in determining the outcome of many human diseases. Two lymphocyte subsets, natural killer (NK) cells and T cells, which are present in both peripheral blood and in tissues, will be further discussed in the context of acute and chronic viral infections and inflammatory liver diseases in this thesis. 8. Risk factors for and Strategies to Prevent Complications of Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography
Sammanfattning : Aim: The overall aim of this thesis was to study risk factors for and strategies to prevent complications of Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP). Methods: Prospectively registered data from the Swedish National Quality Register for Gallstone Surgery and ERCP (GallRiks) 2006-2018 were retrospectively retrieved and reviewed. LÄS MER
9. Immune interactions with the liver
Sammanfattning : The liver has an important role in the induction of immune tolerance and can be a target for immune mediated damage. The following studies are performed to address the role of liver sinusoidal endothelial cells (LSEC) in tolerance induction and to understand some of the mechanisms involved in the pathogenesis of primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC). 10. Trends and current clinical aspects of complicated gallstone disease - with special reference to endoscopic treatment
Sammanfattning : Time trends regarding incidence, management, and outcome of acute (AC) and elective cholecystectomy (EC), as well as symptomatic (cholangitis, pancreatitis, jaundice) and asymptomatic (detected accidentally during cholecystectomy) common bile duct (CBD) stones were studied during the time period 1970-1986 in a welldefined Swedish population. From period I (1970-1978) to period II (1979-1986) there was a four-fold increase in the ratio of AC (period I: mean 10/100,000/year, period II: mean 30/100,000/year) to EC (period 1: mean 190/100,000/year, period II: mean 120/100,000/year).
