31. Design, Fabrication and Optimization of Thermal Radiation Detectors Based on Thin Polymer Membranes
Sammanfattning : The number of applications in which infrared radiation sensors are used is increasing. In some applications, the cost of the sensor itself is an issue, and simple solutions are thus required. In this thesis, the investigations have related to the use of thin polymer membranes in thermal infrared sensors, such as bolometers and thermopiles. LÄS MER
32. Lidar Studies of Tropospheric Aerosols and Clouds
Sammanfattning : An improved description of aerosol and cloud processes is a prerequisite for successful prediction of future climate change. The climate on Earth is controlled by the radiation budget, i.e. the relation between the radiation going into and out from the atmosphere. LÄS MER
33. Laser sintered materials with Non-equilibrium structures
Sammanfattning : This thesis is focused on achieving materials with non-equilibrium structures fabricated by high-energy laser sintering. The chosen precursor materials have rigid and inert structures like high-melting point ceramics or metals. LÄS MER
34. Physical modeling of on-state losses in bipolar Si and SiC power devices
Sammanfattning : Power losses affect both the installation- and long-term cost of power electronic systems. The installation cost is related to the fatt that power losses in silicon power devices generate heat and make installation of heat sinks and water cooling necessary. If self-heating effects are strong, lotal overheating can eventually lead to device failure. LÄS MER
35. Efficient heat supply and use from an energy-system and climate perspective
Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis is to illustrate whether the heat demand in district heating systems can be seen as a resource that enables efficient energy utilization, how this can be achieved and to discuss consequences of this assumption. Based on the answers to posed research questions and on the studies included in this thesis, it is concluded that the hypothesis “A common system approach for energy supply and heat demand will show climate and economic efficient solutions” is true.
