    Sammanfattning : Bile acids are essential physiological molecules which carry out multiple functions such as facilitating the absorption of dietary lipids and regulating the metabolism of cholesterol and bile acids. The formation of bile represents the major route for elimination of excess cholesterol, either by conversion of cholesterol into bile acids or excretion of intact cholesterol in mixed micelles.     Sammanfattning : Elevated plasma lipids, particularly cholesterol within low density lipoproteins, is an important risk factor for developing atherosclerosis which can cause angina pectoris, myocardial infarction, and stroke. Thyroid hormone (TH) has a strong influence on lipid metabolism and the aim of this thesis was to gain more insight into how TH modulates cholesterol and lipoprotein metabolism. LÄS MER
