1. Molecular dynamics studied by NMR relaxation experiments. Characterization of functional dynamics in the FK506 binding protein FKBP12
Sammanfattning : The presented thesis work is concerned with the study of molecular dynamics using liquid nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. Spin relaxation dispersion experiments in the rotating frame (R1ρ) are employed to provide a detailed, atomic-resolution view of protein dynamics. LÄS MER
2. Molecular recognition and dynamics in proteins studied by NMR
Sammanfattning : Knowledge of dynamics in protein is very important in the description of protein function and molecular recognition. The thesis investigates protein dynamics on time-scales from milli- to sub-nanosecond, with focus on the latter, using NMR spin relaxation experiments on two proteins, the 138-residue carbohydrate recognition domain of galectin-3 (Gal3C) and the 56-residue B1 domain of bacterial protein G (PGB1). 3. NMR Studies of Inclusion Compounds
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents the application of some of the NMR methods in studying host-guest complexes, mainly in solution. The general focus of the work is on investigating the reorientational dynamics of some small molecules that are bound inside cavities of larger moieties. LÄS MER
4. Chemistry of Combustion Products Investigation of Combustion Chamber Deposits Formed in a Gasoline Direct Injection Stratified Charge SI Engine
Sammanfattning : The aim of this work was to characterize deposits formed in the combustion chambers of a gasoline direct injection stratified charge SI engine. The engine was run with several types of gasoline fuels and a special reference engine oil. LÄS MER
5. Exploring the Molecular Behavior of Carbohydrates by NMR Spectroscopy : Shapes, motions and interactions
Sammanfattning : Carbohydrates are essential biomolecules that decorate cell membranes and proteins in organisms. They are important both as structural elements and as identification markers. Many biological and pathogenic processes rely on the identification of carbohydrates by proteins, thereby making them attractive as molecular blueprints for drugs. LÄS MER
