31. High Affinity Synthetic Molecular Binders for Proteins : Design, Synthesis and Evaluation
Sammanfattning : This thesis describes the design and synthesis of small molecule derivatives and their polypeptide conjugates as high affinity binders for proteins: the D-dimer protein (D-dimer), a biomarker for diagnosis of thromboembolic diseases; human myeloperoxidase (MPO), a biomarker for cardiovascular diseases; and chitinases, potential targets for asthma therapy. The interactions between the synthetic binder molecules and those proteins were evaluated by surface plasmon resonance (SPR) biosensor analysis and fluorescence spectroscopy. LÄS MER
32. NMR studies on interactions between the amyloid β peptide and selected molecules
Sammanfattning : Alzheimer’s disease is an incurable neurodegenerative disorder linked to the amyloid β (Aβ) peptide, a 38-43 residue peptide. The detailed molecular disease mechanism(s) is (are) unknown, but oligomeric Aβ structures are proposed to be involved. LÄS MER
33. Electrochemical Studies of Quinonoid Compounds for Aqueous Organic Redox Flow Batteries
Sammanfattning : In the current times of uncertainty in face of climate change, sustainable energy-related technologies are developed with urgency. A candidate of special interest is Aqueous Organic Redox Flow Batteries (AORFB), whose utility depends heavily on the organic molecules used. LÄS MER
34. Chemical transformation of the anticancer drug oxaliplatin
Sammanfattning : Oxaliplatin is a new platinum based cytostatic drug. It is used in combination with 5-fluorouracil and leucovorin, both as palliative and adjuvant treatment of metastatic colorectal cancer. Various biotransformation products are formed non-enzymatically after oxaliplatin administration. LÄS MER
35. Beta-Lactamase in Haemophilus ducreyi: Purification, Characterization, and Mutagenesis
Sammanfattning : Chancroid caused by Haemophilus ducreyi, has been described as a significantly predisposing factor of HIV heterosexual transmission in an endemic region of both diseases. Antibiotic resistances are extensively found in H. ducreyi and many of the resistances are due to the presence of resistance plasmids. LÄS MER
