6. Systems Perspectives on Modelling and Managing Future Anthropogenic Emissions in Urban Areas : Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Carbon Studies in Stockholm, Sweden
Sammanfattning : Managing anthropogenic emissions in urban areas is a major challenge in sustainable environmental development for cities, and future changes and increasing urbanisation may increase this challenge. Systems perspectives have become increasingly important in helping urban managers understand how different changes may alter future emissions and whether current management strategies can efficiently manage these emissions. 7. The Integrated Distributed Hydrological Model, ECOFLOW- a Tool for Catchment Management
Sammanfattning : In order to find effective measures that meet the requirements for proper groundwater quality and quantity management, there is a need to develop a Decision Support System (DSS) and a suitable modelling tool. Central components of a DSS for groundwater management are thought to be models for surface- and groundwater flow and solute transport. LÄS MER
8. Evolution of the Biodiversity Hotspot of Madagascar from the Eye of Diving Beetles : Phylogeny, colonization and speciation
Sammanfattning : Dytiscidae, contains numerous endemic and non-endemic species on Madagascar. Their evolutionary history is largely unknown on the island. Herein, I use analyses to infer phylogenetic relationship among groups of diving beetles, with a focus on the subfamily Dytiscinae and endemic species in two other groups of Dytiscidae. LÄS MER
9. Segmentation and Tracking Algorithms for in Vitro Cell Migration Analysis
Sammanfattning : This thesis describes a system for automatic in vitro cell migration analysis. Image sequences of adult neural stem/progenitor cells were acquired using a time-lapse bright-field microscopy setup. The adult neural stem/progenitor cell has the ability to differentiate into three different neural lineages; neuronal, astrocytic and oligodendrocytic. LÄS MER
10. Adaptation of road drainage structures to climate change
Sammanfattning : Climate change is expected to lead to more frequent extreme precipitation events, floods and changes in frost/thawing cycles. The frequency of road closures and other incidents such as flooding, landslides and roads being washed away will probably increase. Stronger demands will be placed on the function of road drainage systems. LÄS MER
