  1. 1. Oxygen content in semi-closed rebreathing apparatuses for underwater use : Measurements and modeling

    Författare :Oskar Frånberg; Ola Eiken; Mikael Gennser; Lars-Åke Brodin; John Clarke; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Diving; rebreather; underwater breathing apparatus; unmanned testing; hyperbaric; metabolic simulator; scuba; semi-closed; Medicinsk teknologi; Medical Technology;

    Sammanfattning : The present series of unmanned hyperbaric tests were conducted in order to investigate the oxygen fraction variability in semi-closed underwater rebreathing apparatuses. The tested rebreathers were RB80 (Halcyon dive systems, High springs, FL, USA), IS-Mix (Interspiro AB, Stockholm, Sweden), CRABE (Aqua Lung, Carros Cedex, France), and Viper+ (Cobham plc, Davenport, IA, USA). 2. 2. Microsystems Technology for Underwater Vehicle Applications

    Författare :Jonas Jonsson; Greger Thornell; Hugo Nguyen; Johan Köhler; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Aquatic; Submersible; Underwater; Micro; Miniaturized; Sonar; Sidescan; Topography; Laser; Diffractive; Optics; Sampler; Particle; Microorganism; Acoustic; Enriching; Conductivity; Temperature; Depth; CTD; Flow; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot mikrosystemteknik; Engineering Science with specialization in Microsystems Technology;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis work has been to investigate how miniaturization, such as microsystems technology, can potentially increase the scientific throughput in exploration of hard-to-reach underwater environments, such as the subglacial lakes of Antarctica, or other challenging environments, including cave systems and wrecks. A number of instruments and subsystems applicable to miniature submersibles have been developed and studied, and their potential to provide a high functionality density for size-restricted exploration platforms has been assessed. 3. 3. Underwater radiated noise from Point Absorbing Wave Energy Converters : Noise Characteristics and Possible Environmental Effects

    Författare :Kalle Haikonen; Jan Sundberg; Sigray Peter; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Wave energy conversion; renewable energy; environmental impact; marine ecology; underwater noise;

    Sammanfattning : The conversion of wave energy into electrical energy has the potential to become a clean and sustainable form of renewable energy conversion. However, like all forms of energy conversion it will inevitably have an impact on the marine environment, although not in the form of emissions of hazardous substances (gases, oils or chemicals associated with anticorrosion). 4. 4. Underwater Electrical Connections and Remotely Operated Vehicles

    Författare :Flore Remouit; Jens Engström; Jens Abrahamsson; Simon Lindroth; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Sammanfattning : Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs) are underwater robots that perform different kind of operations, from observation to heavier tasks like drilling, carrying and pulling cables, etc. Those ROVs are costly and require skilled personal to operate it as well as equipment for transportation and deployment (boats, cranes, etc.). 5. 5. Design and implementation of a programmable, wideband sonar for sediment mapping

    Författare :Peter Jonsson; Teknisk geologi; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; centroid; programmable sonar; sediment mapping; underwater acoustics; hydroacoustics; echosounder;

    Sammanfattning : To be able to explore different signal types and processing techniques, apt for sediment mapping, programmable, fully digital profiling systems has been built and tested. The systema are designed to be deployed also at small water depths from small boats, without special handling equipment. LÄS MER
