  1. 1. A study of flow fields during filling of a sampler

    Författare :Zhi Zhang; Pär Jönsson; Dongyuan Sheng; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; physical modeling; flow pattern; vortex; filling; PIV; sampler; simulation; turbulence; Wilcox k-ω model; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap; Metallurgical process engineering; Metallurgisk processteknik;

    Sammanfattning : More and more attention has been paid to decreasing the number and size of non-metallic inclusions existing in the final products recently in steel industries. Therefore, more efforts have been made to monitor the inclusions' size distributions during the metallurgy process, especially at the secondary steelmaking period. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Microsystems Technology for Underwater Vehicle Applications

    Författare :Jonas Jonsson; Greger Thornell; Hugo Nguyen; Johan Köhler; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Aquatic; Submersible; Underwater; Micro; Miniaturized; Sonar; Sidescan; Topography; Laser; Diffractive; Optics; Sampler; Particle; Microorganism; Acoustic; Enriching; Conductivity; Temperature; Depth; CTD; Flow; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot mikrosystemteknik; Engineering Science with specialization in Microsystems Technology;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis work has been to investigate how miniaturization, such as microsystems technology, can potentially increase the scientific throughput in exploration of hard-to-reach underwater environments, such as the subglacial lakes of Antarctica, or other challenging environments, including cave systems and wrecks. A number of instruments and subsystems applicable to miniature submersibles have been developed and studied, and their potential to provide a high functionality density for size-restricted exploration platforms has been assessed. 3. 3. Measuring occupational dust exposure with a passive sampler

    Författare :Mariam Shirdel; Ingvar Bergdahl; Britt Andersson; Håkan Wingfors; Christer Johansson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; dust particles; mineral; PM10; PM2.5; respirable fraction; UNC passive aerosol sampler; working environment;

    Sammanfattning : Objectives: In a working environment it is important to measure dust exposure to evaluate possible health issues. Passive sampling could be an alternative to active sampling with pumps when measuring occupational dust exposure. One passive sampler is the University of North Carolina passive aerosol sampler (UNC sampler). LÄS MER

  4. 4. Chemical and Morphological Characterisation of Aerosol Particles in the Tropopause Region

    Författare :Hung Nguyen Ngoc; Kärnfysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; CARIBIC; Physics; Singel particle analysis TEM and EFTEM; Carbon and Sulphur; Light element analysis; Aerosol sampler; Chemical Characterisation; Aerosol in the Tropopause Region; Nuclear physics; Technological sciences; Fysik; Teknik; Kärnfysik; Fysicumarkivet A:000;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this work was to study atmospheric aerosols, focusing on the chemical composition, the morphology and the origin of the aerosol in the upper troposphere and lowermost stratosphere. An aerosol sampler was developed for this purpose. A new method for quantitative analysis of the major components of the aerosol, i.e. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Bayesian Cluster Analysis : Some Extensions to Non-standard Situations

    Författare :Jessica Franzén; Daniel Thorburn; Jukka Corander; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cluster analysis; Clustering; Classification; Mixture model; Gaussian; Bayesian inference; MCMC; Gibbs sampler; Deviant group; Longitudinal; Missing data; Multiple imputation; Statistics; Statistik; Statistics; statistik;

    Sammanfattning : The Bayesian approach to cluster analysis is presented. We assume that all data stem from a finite mixture model, where each component corresponds to one cluster and is given by a multivariate normal distribution with unknown mean and variance. LÄS MER
