6. Impacts of stumps and roots on carbon storage and bioenergy use in a climate change context
Sammanfattning : As a result of national and international greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets, economic incentives and political desires to be more independent regarding energy supplies, there is interest in substituting fossil fuels with renewable energy sources, such as forest fuels. Stump harvesting could be an option to further increase the bioenergy potential in forested countries; currently stump harvesting is carried out on a pilot basis in Sweden. LÄS MER
7. Reforestation by direct seeding of beech and oak : influence of granivorous rodents and site preparation
Sammanfattning : In southern Scandinavia there is a general desire to increase the amount of broadleaved forest using, for example, beech and oak, in order to preserve biodiversity and spread risk in the face of climate change. In order to realise this goal cheaper regeneration methods are needed. LÄS MER
8. Aerodynamic and Aeroacoustic Analysis of a Multi-Element Airfoil using Hybrid RANS/LES Modeling Approaches
Sammanfattning : Global hybrid RANS/LES simulations were used for computing the turbulent flow around a three-element airfoil. Based on the results of the flow computations, a comprehensive analysis of the flow properties was performed. LÄS MER
9. Råg och rön : Om mat, människor och landskapsförändringar i norra Småland, ca 1550-1700
Sammanfattning : Why did the three-field system replace annual cropping in the north-eastern part of thr county of Jönköping? Three hypotheses are presented, of which only the first is verified. The first hypothesis concerns the 'rye-bread culture' which was widely spread in southern and eastern Sweden. LÄS MER
10. Forest restoration using direct seeding of oak – Odor cues from predators as a seed protection strategy against foraging rodents
Sammanfattning : In forest restoration of oak, planting nursery-growth seedlings is related to high operational costs. One cost-efficient alternative is the application of direct seeding. However, acorn removal by rodents is one of the major drawbacks in its implementation. LÄS MER
