  1. 1. Characteristics of cast magnesium alloys : microstructures, defects and mechanical properties

    Författare :Haiping Cao; Anders Jarfors; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Mg alloys; microstructure; mechanical properties; defects; modelling; segregation bands; hot tear; mould constraint; semi-solid casting.; TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP;

    Sammanfattning : Magnesium is the lightest of all structural metals. As such, and combined  with good mechanical and physical properties, it forms the basis for commercial alloys that have found successful use in a wide variety of applications. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Rheocasting of aluminium alloys : Process and components characteristics

    Författare :Mostafa Payandeh; Anders E. W. Jarfors; Magnus Wessén; Helen Atkinson; Jönköping University; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Rheocasting; aluminium alloy; RheoMetal TM process; microstructural characteristics; component properties and performance; robust design process;

    Sammanfattning : Semi-Solid Metal (SSM) casting is a promising technology offering an opportunity to manufacture net-shape, complex geometry metal components in a single operation. However, the absence of foundry guidelines and limited design data for SSM casting makes it challenging to predict the performance of both process and components. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Modeling and Simulation of Weld Hot Cracking

    Författare :Joar Draxler; Lars-Erik Lindgren; Jonas Edberg; Paul Åkerström; Jesper Hattel; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Material Mechanics; Materialmekanik;

    Sammanfattning : Several alloy systems are susceptible to weld hot cracking. Weld hot cracking occurs by fracture of liquid films, normally grain boundary liquid films, at the late stage of the solidification of the weld. The cracks can be small and therefore difficult to detect by nondestructive test methods. LÄS MER
