1. Resonant Soft X-Ray Emission Spectroscopy of Vanadium Oxides and Related Compounds
Sammanfattning : This thesis addresses the electronic structure of vanadium and copper oxides using soft X-ray absorption (SXA) spectroscopy and resonant inelastic X-ray scattering (RIXS) at high brightness synchrotron radiation sources. In RIXS incident photons, tuned to the energy of specific absorption resonances, are inelastically scattered leaving behind a low energy valence excitation in the system studied. LÄS MER
2. Soft X-ray Scattering Dynamics Close to Core Ionization Thresholds in Atoms and Molecules
Sammanfattning : In this Thesis studies of highly excited states in gas-phase atoms and molecules (He, Ne, N2, O2, N2O and CO2) using a variety of synchrotron-radiation based techniques are presented. The three techniques used most frequently are X-ray-emission-threshold-electron coincidence (XETECO), X-ray emission spectroscopy (XES) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and they are all given a brief introduction. 3. Spontaneous and stimulated X-ray Raman scattering
Sammanfattning : The present thesis is devoted to theoretical studies of resonant X-ray scattering and propagation of strong X-ray pulses. In the first part of the thesis the nuclear dynamics of different molecules is studied using resonant X-ray Raman and resonant Auger scattering techniques. LÄS MER
4. Soft X-ray Emission Spectroscopy of Liquids and Lithium Battery Materials
Sammanfattning : Lithium ion insertion into electrode materials is commonly used in rechargeable battery technology. The insertion implies changes in both the crystal structure and the electronic structure of the electrode material. LÄS MER
5. Quantum Nuclear Dynamics in Resonant X-ray Scattering of Gas-Phase and Liquid Systems
Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on the role of the nuclear degrees of freedom in X-ray induced molecular processes. An important part of it is devoted to establishing theoretical principles to model and interpret high-resolution resonant X-ray scattering experiments in gases and liquids. LÄS MER
