1. Acetate metabolism in skeletal muscle : a study on perfused rat muscle with special reference to acetate at levels observed during ethanol metabolism in vivo
Sammanfattning : .... LÄS MER
2. Energy metabolism in skeletal muscle during ischemia and reperfusion. Experimental and clinical aspects
Sammanfattning : Microsurgical operations, using free vascularised transfer of tissues, induce an obligatory period of ischemia followed by reperfusion. The degree of ischemia and reperfusion injury is dependent on the ischemia time. LÄS MER
3. Expression and localization of extracellular matrix proteins in rat skeletal development
Sammanfattning : Several novel matrix molecules of cartilage and bone have recently been identified and characterized. Studies of the maturation of the femoral head give clues as to the function of the novel matrix proteins. LÄS MER
4. Acute skeletal muscle ischemia and reperfusion in the rat : The role of leukocytes and the effect of hyperbaric oxygen on microcirculation and metabolism during reperfusion
Sammanfattning : Much experimental work in recent years seems to indicate that reperfusion after long periods of ischemia can damage tissue. Suggested factors of importance are accumulation of polymorphonuclear leukocytes (PMNs) and production of reactive oxygen metabolites (ROMs). LÄS MER
5. Mitochondrial function in human skeletal muscle: with special reference to exercise and training
Sammanfattning : The overall objective of this thesis was to study the adaptation of oxidative function in human skeletal muscle to acute exercise of different modes, intensities and durations, and to endurance training. The effects of endurance training on mitochondrial function were evaluated in cross-sectional and longitudinal studies by measurements of mitochondrial oxygen consumption in isolated mitochondria and permeabilised muscle fibres and measurements of mitochondrial ATP production rate in isolated mitochondria.
