16. Quantum technologies for secure communications
Sammanfattning : Quantum technologies promise to revolutionize a variety of fields such as metrology, cryptography or computing, among others. The resources that quantum mechanics offers allow us to design faster optimization algorithms, to improve security in communications, and to measure quantities beyond the grasp of current technology. 17. Photonic quantum information and experimental tests of foundations of quantum mechanics
Sammanfattning : Entanglement is a key resource in many quantum information schemes and in the last years the research on multi-qubit entanglement has drawn lots of attention. In this thesis the experimental generation and characterisation of multi-qubit entanglement is presented. Specifically we have prepared entangled states of up to six qubits. LÄS MER
18. Quantum Resources for Efficient Excitation Energy Transfer in Natural and Artificial Pigment-Protein Molecular Aggregates
Sammanfattning : Recently, long-lasting quantum effects in a number of photosynthetic complexes, which are pigment-protein molecular aggregates (PPMAs), were experimentally verified. These findings created an interest in trying to connect the known highly efficient excitation energy transfer (EET) in these systems to the existence of quantum effects such as quantum coherence and quantum correlations. 19. Platforms for Quantum Information and Technology
Sammanfattning : This work presents a collection of scientific research results in the field of quantum information. The first paper describes the mathematical properties of a particular type of state of light, called the two-mode squeezed state (TMSS). LÄS MER
20. Exploring the Set of Quantum States
Sammanfattning : Quantum mechanical properties of finite dimensional quantum systems are used within the field of quantum information. In this thesis the set of states (density matrices) for such systems is studied and described, largely in geometrical terms. LÄS MER
