11. Gender differences in patients with hip fracture : aspects on care and recovery
Sammanfattning : Hip fractures in the elderly are common and impose a substantial burden on the healthcare system. This fracture population consists of many subgroups that often require differentiated and extensive acute and postfracture care. LÄS MER
12. Waste Heat Recovery from Combustion Engines based on the Rankine Cycle
Sammanfattning : Most of the energy in the fuel burned in modern automotive internal combustion engines is lost as wasteheat without contributing to the vehicle’s propulsion. In principle some of this lost energy could becaptured and used to increase the vehicle’s fuel efficiency by fitting a waste heat recovery system to theengine. LÄS MER
13. Waste-Heat Recovery from Combustion Engines based on the Rankine Cycle
Sammanfattning : The majority of the energy in the fuel burned by the combustion engines used in modern vehicles is lost in the form of waste heat and does not contribute to the propulsion of the vehicle. Three different technologies have been proposed for recovering some of this lost heat and thereby increasing the overall efficiency of combustion engines: the turbocompound, thermoelectric converters, and heat engines based on the Rankine cycle. 14. Mass transport mechanisms and module design aspects in the recovery of dilute volatile organic compounds by hydrophobic pervaporation
Sammanfattning : Hydrophobic pervaporation has gained a lot of attention as an alternative process for mild aroma recovery, but the real commercial applications of this process are still in their infancies. Better understanding of mass transport phenomena in composite pervaporation membranes is essential from the point of view of membrane manufacturing, while process simulation is an important tool for predicting pervaporation module performance. 15. Time dependent pressure phenomena in hydropower applications
Sammanfattning : Time resolved pressure measurements in hydropower applications are of great interest. Different parts of the machine experience highly transient flows that influence the function and efficiency of the turbine. This thesis addresses different time dependent pressure phenomena. LÄS MER
