31. Energy balance during active carbon uptake and at excess irradiance in three marine macrophytes
Sammanfattning : The marine environment is an important habitat where many processes occur that affect life conditions on earth. Macrophytes and planktonic oxygen evolvers are an essential component for almost all marine life forms and have developed in an environment that differs largely from the terrestrial habitats. LÄS MER
32. Modeling aerosol-cloud interactions in the Arctic
Sammanfattning : Clouds have a large impact on Earth’s energy balance, especially in the Arctic. Through their warming or cooling effect on the surface, clouds can play a critical role in the onset of melting and freezing of Arctic sea ice, which itself has a large effect on energy and moisture fluxes between the ocean and the atmosphere. 33. Numerical methods for the Navier–Stokes equations applied to turbulent flow and to multi-phase flow
Sammanfattning : This thesis discusses the numerical approximation of flow problems, in particular the large eddy simulation of turbulent flow and the simulation of laminar immiscible two-phase flow. The computations for both applications are performed with a coupled solution approach of the Navier-Stokes equations discretized with the finite element method. LÄS MER
34. Models of the Distribution of Persistent Organic Pollutants in the Marine Environment
Sammanfattning : Persistent organic pollutants (POPs) is a group of chemicals that are toxic, undergo long-range transport and accumulate in biota. Due to their persistency the distribution and recirculation in the environment often continues for a long period of time. LÄS MER
35. Numerical and Experimental Studies on the Effects of Flow on Drop Formation in Cross-flow Membrane Emulsification
Sammanfattning : Membrane emulsification is a gentle process that produces emulsions with a narrow drop size distribution, which increases the stability of the emulsion. The dispersed phase is forced through the pores in a membrane and drops are formed at the other side of the membrane where a continuous phase, flowing along the membrane surface, sweeps away the forming drops.
